Game Thread GAME# 44: BLAZERS @ HORNETS - JANUARY 18, 2017 - WEDNESDAY, 4:00 PM (PST), CSNNW

We are now 1 game behind last year's rough start (18-26, vs 19-25) With each passing blowout loss to sub .500 teams, you can't help but wonder . . . when do we hit rock bottom?

After watching this game I realized that we have ZERO big men.
Harkless and Aminu were nondescript, so was Vonleh. Plums was mediocre. Biebs sucked.

A guard-oriented team without talented big men like the Blazers need great rebounders - we don't have that. We have nothing!

A certain jackass on these boards posted an old Utah/Portland series video. We had a front line of Sabonis, Wallace, and Pippen. Any of those players would be immediately become our best front court player, BY A LOT! Actually, Batum would be our best front court player by a lot if he were still here. Vonleh is not the future - his qualities aren't actual basketball skills.

We're in trouble.

Batum was awful tonight. Look at all his misses and turnovers in the boxscore too. Glad he's gone.

 

For about 20 years, we had an awesome frontcourt. Sucks now.

 

Batum was, and is, inconsistent. But.... that means he was actually good sometimes.

 

I actually thought Plums played as well as could be expected with the suckage around him. He's a total hustler, and he had some good blocks and Defense tonight.

But really...there's only so much that he can do alone. When he's the only one contesting balls in the paint against 3 opposing players, it's kind of a no contest.

 

Batum sucks and has a massive contract.

 

Better than what vonleh did. Oh and Henderson isn't here so yeah, great trade...

 

Would rather watch us get demolished in the playoffs then root for us to lose unless we have a legit shot at a top 3 pick

 

He doesn't suck. I'm not sure why people are turning on him now. Sure he has lazy turnovers sometimes and can be inconsistent but look at his number a this season with Charlotte. Portland doesn't know how to develop players properly so good luck with vonleh. Henderson we let go for nothing so yeah it looks like a terrible trade and whether you wanna admit it or not batum would be very valuable on this team right now

 

I don't think anyone will have to root for that to happen if things keep going the way they are

 

Do you really want to pay Batum 5/120 million? NO sure as hell didn't thats why he traded him.

 

I was just going to say this specifically about Meyers Leonard but you beat me to it. I think he is purposely trying to tank his (already low) value because he doesn't want to get sent away from the area that he and his wife loves.

 

Plums still plays with fear. In the heart of the paint, he double pump fadeaways or throws it out... a lot.

 

By the way I would rather take on batums contract than a mix of turners and crabbes.

 

I am one of the biggest Blazers homers there is on this board but this team is wearing me down. This is unacceptable.

Prepare yourself for a blowout by the "worst team" in the league on Friday. At this point can you argue against this happening?

 

Yeah instead he paid much less caliber players even more money, makes sense. I mean let's just toss 40 mil to Meyers, 40 to moe all though I think we could of got him cheaper. 70 to crabbe which is a joke. 70 to turner which even he was surprised by. I like turner but he isn't 70 mil good.

 

They aren't doing bad actually. I mean they are still bad but definitely not as bad as prior seasons.
