A lot of people dislike Bill Walton for various reasons, but no one can never claim he was not a great and loyal friend. He named his son after Maurice Lucas and continues to honor his former teammate.

Well done Big Red, well done, sir.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
I loved Bill Walton as a broadcaster. I viewed him as something like the NBA's John Madden.

Most fickle NBA broadcaster ever.....throw it down Will Perdue....one of the unsung great bigs who doesn't get enough love! ......right Bill....Bill loved everybody who just rattled in a freethrow.....he's much better at Pac12 game broadcasting....then the Bob Dylan Grateful Dead quotes...out of nowhere....Bill made me mute the sound alot

Has any other superstar in history ever deflected so much praise from himself to his teammates? In his UCLA sophomore year, commentators already noticed how unselfish he was, passing off when he had a clear basket. Lucas was one of the best PFs of his half-decade, but no superstar. The youngest champion team ever, won it only because of Walton, but he shuns credit. Walton embodies the values which the political Left was all about before the advent of the Wee Wee Left, which is all about gender.
