All you Chicken Littles and Negative Nancies... Novemeber 3, 1989, the Portland Trail Blazers retired Bill Walton's jersey. I was there (still have two of the posters they gave to all of the fans in attendance). They beat the Sacramento Kings 114 - 96, went onto win, a then franchise record, 59 games and advanced to the NBA finals. Tonight they are honoring that entire team, not just one player. Championship coming soon!!! I can feel it! BNM
Kinda sad (maddening too) that Blazers broadcasting not doing local broadcast on KGW or CSN. ESPN isn't going to show pre/half/post game stuff we'd all be interested in seeing. Lost opportunity!
All the employees who broadcast the game don't want to miss out on the private reception with the players and pre/half/post game stuff.
After watching the Walton interview, I was filled with energy. I was hyper for the rest of the game and still am. I now understand his era's Blazer Mania, a maniacal energy. His energy transferred to his teammates, which won them games, and transferred to the fans.
