Symbolically calling a travel is lobbying the officials for a call.

Mudiay made his gesture immediately after (practically in synch with the ref) Pops had received his second technical and been ejected. He made right in front of Pops and he also signaled he'd been ejected. He wasn't lobbying for a call (it had already been made). He was mimicking the ref's call and mocking Pop.

If you still don't understand the difference, I'll refer you to dviss1's more concise explanation:

    "Taunting is:
    1. Completely unnecessary and avoidable.
    2. Bush league.
    3. Unsportsmanlike.
And yes, I woulda wacked his ass for that unsportsmanlike display."

Apparently the Cavs turned down a Melo for Love trade. Dunno if I agree with that - Melo seems to do well for the USA, so I think he might thrive in a supergroup environment. But then again, he's a good deal older than Love. Bet LeBron is pissed, though.

Someone with over 10,000 hours as a ref says it was taunting.

    I agree.

You seem to be the one who has nothing.

It was 10 days later, not 2. Sheed was about to become a free agent, so the Pistons gambled they would keep him. The Pistons gave up usable bench players, $3M, and 2 draft picks that became Josh Smith and Tony Allen!

They also drafted Darko Milicic instead of Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh or Carmelo Anthony. They won their championship with Sheed, but if they'd played their cards better, they could have been a dynasty.

Maybe it was delayed from 2 days to 10 days to get Boston to fill in the cracks. The Celtics made out pretty well.

I don't know. They did return to Finals once more and ECF three more times after that. Which one of those three should they have drafted and how should they have used him?

There are 4 teams that are 8-2 in their last 10....
One of them is the 76ers. They beat the Bucks tonight without Embid, without Okafor, without Ben Simmons. Their starting PG, TJ McConnell, had 13 assists and 3 steals on just 3 turnovers.

Sixers have been playing well for awhile now and are a threat to make the playoffs. Losing by 1 to them in their building wasn't so horrific. People acted like it was the end of the world.

Nerlens Noel with 16 points and 13 rebounds last night as PHI won in MIL without Embiid and Okafor. Damn, I wish we would have gotten him while his stock was low.

Also of note from that game:

"Bucks: Miles Plumlee made his second straight start at center. He was inserted into the starting lineup for Monday's game against Houston, replacing John Henson, who had started 34 consecutive games. Henson didn't see action."

So, not only has Henson lost his starting job, he was a DNP-CD. Does that mean he may be on the move? MIL is splitting the center minutes between Plumlee and Greg Monroe, who had a season high 28 points last night.

You NEVER rescind a tech. Plain and simple. You called it for a reason didn't you? Don't call it if you don't have the stones to apply the penalty that comes with it.

No, you warn then assess. Again, allowing it or rewarding it sets you up for failure later. Remember how the league instituted a new technical foul for excessive complaining? The rule would apply here as well.

How do you not see it as taunting? I also await your explanation on how it was sportsmanlike...

Wade would have probably been the best choice. He would have instantly stepped in as their best scorer. No one on that DET championship team averaged over 17.6 PPG. Wade averaged 16.2 PPG as a rookie and then 24.1, 27.2, 27.4, 24.6, 30.2, 26.6, 25.5 over the next seven seasons. Hell, he's still averaging 19.1 PPG thirteen seasons after DET won their championship.

Bosh probably would have been the next best choice, and since they had not yet traded for Sheed, probably the best fit with their existing roster. They drafted a big to fill a need. Unfortunately for them, they drafted the wrong big. Bosh was only 19 that year and Sheed was 29. Bosh was a better scorer and rebounder than Sheed, but Sheed was a better defender. The main thing was Sheed was past his prime. So, drafting Bosh instead of Darko would have extended their window.

Plus, if they had drafted Bosh, they might nay have made the tread with ATL that got them Sheed. They could have ended up with both Bosh and Sheed, or they could have ended up with Bosh, Josh Smith and Tony Allen. Smith's career fell off a cliff after he left ATL, but I think people forget how good he was those first 9 years he was in ATL. He blocked over 200 shots three years in a row, and was second in the league in BLKS those same three years. He also made 2nd team All-Defense in 2009-2010 - something Sheed never did. Also, like Bosh, Smith came into the league at the age of 19. So, having him and Bosh (or Wade) and Tony Allen would have extended DET's championship window by several years.

I actually just did the math. I'm at around 6700 hours. I guess I've yet to master my craft. There are also hours of film sessions, trainings and certifications.
