It looks like we may make a major push to take back all the territory and put this to an end or actually get the hell out if that doesn't pan out.

The departures include Patrick Kennedy, the under secretary for management; Tom Countryman, the acting under secretary for arms control; Michele Bond and Joyce Anne Barr, assistant secretaries for consular affairs and administration; and Gentry Smith, director of the Office for Foreign Missions. Other assistant secretaries and senior diplomats were also asked to leave.

An unnamed FBI official alleges Patrick Kennedy asked agency to downgrade classified email in exchange for FBI agents in more countries.

It only takes a little fact checking.

Draining the swamp, indeed. Case in point.

I know you're pro open borders but you're talking to the guy that is fine with our military bombing countless civilians but at the same time gets pissed that someone would want an illegal immigrant kept out.

He picks and chooses amazing beliefs that seem so at odds. It reminds me of the pro life pro death penalty conundrum.

Maybe the whole "fuck middle Eastern civilians because our soldiers don't die" is just a way to fight with you.

If we are going to go bomb, we better win and it better be over real quick. And bombing should be the last resort, after years of other methods have failed - or the threat is so imminent it would be negligence of the duty to keep us safe within our borders.

Bombing every day, or few days, for months on end is torture in its own right.

In any case, I prefer a specific declaration of war or authorization for such actions.

So much misinformation info in this thread.

I’m, like, a smart person so let me educate y'all.

    1) All political appointees at the State Dept submit resignations when a new president is elected as a sign of respect, but it is largely a symbolic gesture.

"As is standard with every transition, the outgoing administration, in coordination with the incoming one, requested all politically appointed officers submit letters of resignation. The Department encourages and advocates for senior officers to compete for high level offices in the Department. These positions are political appointments, and require the President to nominate and the Senate to confirm them in these roles."

What's unusual is forcing out the senior management officials, all at the same time.

    2) These people don't make foreign policy. They run the embassies, consulates and foreign missions for the US government overseas. Management are the people who bail your ass out of jail in Bali. These are the people that help you get home after you passport gets stolen in Italy. These are the doctors that stitch you up after an earthquake in Nepal. I have met many "management" people in Kyrgyzstan. They are all insanely loyal to the US and go out of their way to help US citizens abroad, often at their own personal expense.

    3) Kennedy was nominated for the Under Secretary of State for Management during Bush's presidency. His position is not political in nature. Replacing him will be difficult. Running State is no easy task — there are over 24,000 Americans working at over 300 locations. Dealing with everything from passports to plutonium smuggling.

    4) In actuallity the FBI offered the bargain for putting their agents overseas, not the state dept.
The FBI’s separate statement Monday said it was the now-retired FBI official who first asked Kennedy about deploying more agents overseas. The employee said that he would "look into the email matter" if Kennedy "would provide authority concerning the FBI's request to increase its personnel in Iraq."

It only takes a little fact checking, people.

Now we shall see just how well the new President actually governs. He asked the Defense department for options regarding ISIS. What will the collision look like? That is who is in it doing what? Will it include the US, complete with a specific authorization for war authorized by Congress? He may not need the latter if other countries are doing the war fighting with the US only in a support role.

This and his handling of trade and the economy will be the issue that makes or break the era of President Trump. Looks as if we will be into the heart of the issues right up front.

    1. Factual

    2.-4. Fake news.

    5. Trump was elected to drain the swamp. The State Department, Kennedy and all of it's management team brought us Benghazi, buried and/or possibly destroyed emails which are necessary evidence subpoenaed by a Federal Judge in a move which may end up resulting in their prosecution for a myriad of felonies up to and including treason. The FBI determined and reported several of them were running an illegal shadow government which guided all State Department actions even in defiance of POTUS (Obama). They are the swamp.
