New York is reluctant to absorb the three years and $42 million left on Jamal Crawford's contract after this season. The Clippers are hesitant to trade away J.J. Redick. The Clippers are also hard-capped this season, which would make it difficult for the club to deal with the 15 percent trade kicker in Anthony's contract that would add nearly $10 million to his 2016-17 season if he's dealt. The market for Anthony thus far has been tepid, sources said, partly due to the extremely limited number of teams it is believed he'd be willing to join.
So you are saying you want to be the team that absorbs the three years and $42 million left on Jamal Crawford's contract after this season? That is the only reason they want another team involved.
I would only even consider that if we also were sending a contract we didn't like (like Leonard) somewhere in the deal. But really it would take Crabbe instead otherwise we would be deep into the luxury tax. However, I have a funny feeling that POR Brass doesn't think Crabbe's contract is an albatross to them like some people in here do. Are the two first round picks worth Paul Allen paying something like 20-30 MIL in tax?
I think age has caught up to Crawford and he's only going to get worse. He's got the opposite of the kind of contracts NO gave out this summer. I do think Crawford was due to get a payday, though. He was an elite 6th man for years on contracts below his value.
Getting Chuckmal Crawchuck back would put the perfect ribbon on this complete organizational clusterfuck of a season.
