Second of all like Heatfan already said it was probably a white kid who said that. Then again most black people in my grade also listen to that crap so who knows.

I just want people to realize that these rappers aren't talented even if they still prefer to listen to them. I mean it just bugs the crap out of me reading iTunes reviews for songs and seeing people type..."N1GGA dis sh*t is hot jim jones put a hot beat on ndis sh*t and itz catchy as hell! BALLLLLLLLLLLLIN!
whoa whoa whoa, never in hell have I mentioned T.I. is one of the greats. Get your facts right before you start jumping outta your chair. And T.I. is one of the good ones in this era of Hip-Hop. I thought this topic was about your favorite top 10 albums. There's no "official" top 10 albums of all time. Not everybody share the same opinion about this album or that album. After what you said, I would'nt be surprised if any of those people who put Illmatic in their list, actually just listed the album in their list to avoid being flamed. ASU, it's not proven but I read somewhere that 70% of Hip-Hop's audience are white. But I ain't one of 'em.

Illmatic is not number 1!! omg there's better things out there than that particular album .. im not saying it's a bad album at all, it's actually a excellent album but people have to relise albums have come out before and after illmatic which have been just as good lyricaly and aswell as the production.. people overrate this album quite a bit and when people make a album look overrated it rubs off on it IMO!my opinion or mabye im just a nas hater xDS.O.N.O.G.R.A.M. - One Be Loomg that album is near perfect ^ welll not really . but it's great, can't be stuffed naming a top ten right now.

Half the good Hip Hop albums are rated 5/5 on Amazon.anyway thats not my point, my point is that there albums as good as Illmatic out there and from what im seeing is that everyone think's Illmatic is like the only amazing album to come out in the early 90's, people overrate this album as in saying it's like the best thing in the universe, it's the only real hip hop album out there etc etc .. now im not saying it's not a amazing album at all, because it is .. it's just the people out there make it seem like it's a masterpiece and perfection to the max in rap music.. and for nas ... has he made a album on the same level as illmatic yet ? nope, not really! :no3:

No. has Dre done anything as good as Chronic? No. How about Jay-Z and Reasonable Doubt? No. How about the Fugees with The Score? Nope. 2Pac never did anything that can be considered top 5 all time. In other words, most rappers have 1 album that is in the elite, and everyhting else usually falls short. BUT, It Was Written is a top 20 album all time IMO, and Stillmatic, God's Son and Lost Tapes are all very good. So no, while he hasn't done anything as good as Illmatic (NO one has), it isn't like he is a 1 hit wonder.

I could name many .. groups and single artist'sSpice 1 ? Spice 1, 187 He Wrote, AmeriKKKa's Nightmare & 1990-Sick are all very good albums there all pretty equal.Biggie Smalls, Life After Death, Ready 2 DieBrand Nubian's albumsPublic Enemy ?Eric B & RakimA Tribe Called QuestIce Cube ? he's had many very outstanding albums .. better than nas's follow ups.I could name more but I haven't really got the view of my music right now so..im not downing nas or calling him a one hit wonder, it's just that some other artist's out there were more consistin throught there career in making top albums.n I can't think off the top of my head were someones done 2 amazing albums but im sure there's some even though it may have not been recgonized hugely.btw I was just listing to H to the Omo by nas, god damn he's a amazing lyricaly.
Biggie Smalls, Life After Death, Ready 2 Die
Life After death wasn't on Ready To Die's level, and I prefer It Was Written to Life After death.
I'll give you PE. Fear of a Black Planet and It Takes A Nation To Hold Us Back were both fantastic and about equal (although neither crack my top 10).
Nothing they did was as good as Paid In Full (which I never cared for in the first place).
I'll give you ATCQ. Low End Theory and Midnight Marauder swere both damn good, although I feel Midnight Marauders is a top 10 album while Low End Theory barely cracks my top 20. Similar to how I feel about Illmatic and It Was Written.
There is not 1 Ice Cube album I'd even consider top 15. Basically what I'm saying is that most rappers and groups have only 1 truly great album. It is very rare for a rapper or rap group to have 2 albums in contention for top 20 all time. I feel nas has this with Illmatic and It was Written, and that is rare. maybe it's because he has made so many albums that makes him seem not very consistent, but he has had 5 good-very good albums, 2 of them being great (Illmatic, It was Written, God's Son, Stillmatic and The Lost Tapes).

what are you talking about, Ice Cube has come out with 4 great albums AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted, Lethal Injection, The Predator & Death Certificateand it's not particularly nas that's overrated, it's Illmatic itself as iv'e said before.

However Nas is not overrated, but I certainly would not call him a better rapper than the ones we see today.

I really have always been a fan of Ludacris, (though some of you are going to say he is a snob and rhymes for pussy) but I think he is up there, and you can really argue this. But for sure, Nas is not the best ever.To add, his really great to really bad album ratio can also be noted. I mean Illmatic, Stillmatic, and Hip Hop is Dead, are great, but not many of you have heard God's Son, Street's Disciple, and I am, as much as you have raced about Illmatic have you?

I mean you could ask like 500 people about who they think is the best ever and they could all have different answers. I also like a few artists that some people may consider "whack" but I don't think their the best ever or even in the top 10, like I'll admit I don't like 50,llyod Banks, and others but there may be a few songs I like from them. I also like luda I like his song runaway love.
