Kind of pathetic when you compare that figure with some of the NBA's other great scorers. Arenas has 7, Kobe has 8, hell; even Iverson has 3, and he missed alot of action when he was on the block earlier this year. Lebron has been having his worst season since his rookie year. This is kind of pathetic. I don't see that much desire from him this year. He has the talent to average 35; no question. He just hasn't been able to take over games with his scoring this year. Anyway, just thought I would throw that out there.
Whether LeBron scores 40 or not mid-way through a season should not determine how good he is. He has the talent to average 35-40, sure, but so does 10-15 players in this league. If LeBron wanted to, he could go out there and average 36 a night and make himself look pretty, but that's not the kind of player he is. He's unselfish. If he sees an opening to an open teammate, you better bet your nut sack he's dishing it off to them. He hasn't scored 40 this year, so what? He's still LeBron James, he's still one of the best players in the NBA, and he's still capable of putting up any stat line you want.
Well actually, Celticballa. If this guy does have the talent to score 36 a game, how come he has never scored 40 this season? It is obvious that his teammates will have games when they will struggle, so why doesn't Lebron just take it into his own hands and score a ton of points in some games? He is having his worst statistical year since his rookie year, so there is definately some reason for concern.Kobe has had eight 40 point games, and he still does a pretty good job of setting guys up. In fact, Lebron only averages .5 more apg than Kobe, yet Kobe still manages to score a TON of points in alot of games. So that is not a very good excuse. Kobe sets people up, and he still gets 40 point games. It is ridiculous for a superstar like Lebron to not have ONE freaking 40 pt effort. He is a superstar, he should be able to take it into his own hands and just put up a ton of points when his team needs him to...

Didn't he drop 56 on Toronto before? And they LOST. And no I don't see any "concern." What are you trying to say? That LeBron James is declining? (I know you didn't say that, so don't take that literally and make a fuss about it). Some of the reason his PPG average isn't sexy enough for you is because he's shooting HORRIBLY from the FT line this year. He never was very good at the line, but he's shooting like 65% this year. That's killing him. Also, where does Kobe Bryant come into this? LeBron averages 0.5 more assists than Kobe, you say? Who cares? Kobe is also the better scorer and the best player in the entire NBA, and he's not as unselfish as LeBron, especially late in games. I wouldn't pay attention to his stat lines only and get all flabbergasted about it. He's still the same player, he's still devastating for opposing teams, and he's still one of the best players in the league without question. Just because he's not scoring 31 ppg this year, as opposed to 26 or 27, doesn't mean he's not the same player. As I said, his scoring averages have dropped because of his poor free throw shooting. If he shot at the line around 75% like he has before, he'd be putting up 31 or 32 a game still and he'd have more 40 point performances. But not scoring 40 in a game means nothing. Melo has only scored 40 once, why not go make a thread about that "concern" too.
Nice job backing up LeBron CB, and thanks. I am getting tired of hearing this crap all over these message boards (not just BBW). "LeBron isn't having that great of a season compared to his past seasons," "LeBron is playing horrible this year," and whatever else you guys are saying.Coach Brown put in a new offensive system that spreads the ball around a little more, this is part of the reason his PPG have dropped. It is extremely hard to average 31 PPG in a season, so don't expect him to do it every time he goes out on the court. He is averaging around the same stats he has in the past and 26 PPG is still really good. Kobe isn't scoring 35 PPG anymore, do I hear crap about him? Michael Jordan averaged 37 PPG early in his career, then he never got close to that again, does he suck now?I know this topic is just reffering to the fact he hasn't had a 40 point game this year, which is pretty bad. But he isn't having a bad year and he isn't getting worse.
no offense but this is a bad posthere's another stat for youLebron has had 25 6 assist+ games and 4 double digit assist gameshe's really getting his teammates involvedits about US...its about US...there is no I in teamLebron knows when he needs to take over and that's what makes him great..he's got a great all-around gameim sorry that he isn't a one-dimensional player and is a team player
Points are nothing to LeBron, he could care less as long as they win the game. He said he wouldn't care if he scored zero as long as the team wins the ball game. This is the guy that passed it off to Damon Jones for the win, this is the guy that will pass up to be the hero, to win the damn game. 40 Points? He hasn't gotten over 40 points and you think thats pathetic? Wanna know something else? We have a better record then we did last season, and James hasn't gotten over 40. I'll take the wins over the points, for all I care he can go scoreless the whole game, as long as they win.

His team absolutely sucked that game. I remember watching it. My friend actually was attending that game in Toronto.I was just adding Kobe to comparison because some people think that Lebron is just as good as Kobe. Plus, I needed some examples for comparison. It's not just PPG. His rebounding, and assist numbers are lower than his previous 2 seasons, and his fg% is lower than last year's....Yeah, that logic doesn't make any sense. Okay, try to take this in. Last year, he had an average of 7.6 FT's made a game. This year he had an average of 5.9 a game. So even if he were making the same amount of Free Throw's he made last year his PPG average wouls still only be at 27.9, not 31 or 32 as you estimated Yeah, Melo was sidelined for 15 games because of his punch, and he is now playing with Iverson. It is almost impossible to score 40 in a game when you have a sidekick who chips in 28-29 as well. If Melo never punched Mardy Collins, and if AI never got traded To Denver, I'm sure Melo would have atleast 3 - maybe 4...Cavs fans. This isnt meant to insult Lebron> It just caught my eye because of the fact that he had 5 last year, and none this year...Settle down...I am a big fan of Lebron. This is ony an observation.Edit: Wait a minute. His PPG would be even less than 27.9 if he shot the same percentage he did last year. He got to the line on average 8.7 times this year. Last year it was 10.3. So if Lebron made .738 percent of his 8.7 free throw shots a day, that would be 6.4 makes a day. which is only .5 more than what he makes now. So he would average 26.7 a game. You're estimate was even further off than I initially thought. You predicted it at 31 or 32.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (CB4AllStar @ Feb 15 2007, 09:02 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'></div>Are you just bumping this up, or do you feel like laughing at LeBron because he didn't get a 40 point game this 1st half of the season? I see you talked about Melo, how many APG does he get? Yeah, same with Kobe. James is very young, I guess he is yet to learn when he drives he is very hard to stop. He, IMO, is the best driver in the NBA. You can say Wade, but yet again, James takes 10 times the hits Wade takes, yet he shoots more Free Throws. Witch is by far Bull sh*t, and that is why I been pissed this whole season about Wade's Free Throws.James is not the same player as he was last season, he didn't really have a off season this off season, because he played like hell, and then went on to USA basketball. Yeah, Wade and Melo are doing good, and hell, Wade went deeper then Lebron in the playoffs, and won a ring. But Wade had something LeBron didn't, and that was help.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (CB4AllStar @ Feb 15 2007, 09:02 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'></div>Very unmod-like. :no3: If his Rebounds, Assists, and FG% are lower this season than last year's, it's probably because he's not been as agressive as he was last season. And fatigue might have something to do with it as well. He's been busy a lot during the offseason. All that, or he's probably not 100% committed to coach Brown's new offensive system drake24 pointed out.
Man LeBron was so close to 40 points last night vs. LAL. He ended up with 38. Then we woulda had to stop talking about him not scoring 40 yet this year.
It's not a big deal. A guy like Tim Duncan rarely scores over 40, yet look how successful he has been. James is still productive, still a top five player and he's going to be there for his team in the playoffs no matter what they need him to do. This is a non-issue to me.
