<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Boston Forward Kendrick Perkins:"We were up four with three minutes left in the ballgame. We've got to close it out. Just down the stretch we've got to have confidence, and that's the main thing.""(Pierce) brings it. He's our pride and joy. He brings fear. We feel more comfortable when he's on the floor. It is just a whole different atmosphere. I know it shouldn't be like this, but it's like everybody is playing up to the expectations Paul has. He's got high expectations for us to step up and I don't think anybody wanted to let him down.""It's a challenge (against Garnett), but that isn't really what it is. It's a challenge but he's still kind of overrated in my opinion. He's a great player, but at the same time we all strap up our shoes the same way. Not taking anything from him, but I play basketball like he plays basketball."</div>
Wow. Perk does in a way have a point by saying he's not a vocal leader, but give me a break. I love the big fella, Perk is the man. But come on. Kevin Garnett is a Hall of Famer, Perk is an underachieving 4th year center coming out of high school. He had no right to say this, and quite frankly I'm very surprised he said this in the first place. Perk isn't a guy to talk about someone like this and he certainly isn't a loudmouth. He's pretty quiet off the court, then he's mean on the court (which, of course, we like). But again, Perk had no right to say this at all. EDIT: Can you post the link, by the way?
Kendrick Perkins has played against KG, I don't know...I have no problems with what he said. If thats the way he feels, good for him. The perfect response from KG would be...Who is Kendrick Perkins?<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (CelticBalla32 @ Feb 13 2007, 01:42 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>But again, Perk had no right to say this at all.</div> Why not?

I really didn't get a bad vibe off of what he said at all. Sure, he said KG is overrated, but he said he's also a great player. It just came off as a poor choice of words to me... I honestly thought he was saying that he and the Celtics shouldn't feel intimidated by KG or anything because he's a "superstar" since they all lace them up their sneakers and play the game of basketball just like he does. Perk just felt that they played scared (whether that's true or not, I don't know... I didn't see the game) and they shouldn't have. He isn't saying KG sucks or anything.
Perhaps Perk is just underrated? Haha. He sort of has a point though. I have seen a couple of interviews with some of the players saying Perk is very vocal in the locker room. I don't see why he can't say that.
I think Garnett is underrated. He's often not talked about because his Wolves have been out of the playoff picture now for a good 2-3 years...But he does everything. He is a great defender, he can pass, he can shoot, post up, score inside, get a ton of boards, score in general...Garnett is definately not overrated. He is the best PF in the NBA still, in my opinion.

Perkins has no right to say this, not until I can see that Perkins is doing anything to try and be better than Garnett. Perk is an underachiever, never was hyped up and in my opinion should have played college for his greater good, he is rarely healthy and his performance swings from month to month.

Well, I guess only 2 or 3 players can do that.
So basically unless you are Kobe Bryant, Tim Duncan or LeBron James you are not allowed to say the words Kevin and Garnett in the same sentence to the press?
