I just want to say that this trade makes me uneasy. Can't we get someone to take Meyers off our hands? I don't even care who we get in return!
Nurkic is a traditional in the key center offensively. Hopefully he'll help add another dimension to our defense. I don't like losing Plums, but I understand the trade was made to upgrade the center position defensively while keeping in mind the NBA cap for next season. Also, it's nice we acquired the Grizzlies 2017 first round pick (giving us 3 now) via the Nuggets and we only had to give up one of our second round picks. Neil has some draft picks and some other players he could end up trading in this reload. In the grand scheme of things, our team was struggling and needed a little jolt.
For maybe one game as Nurkic might not be here in time to clear his physical by tomorrow night's game. Lord have mercy! http://www.sbnation.com/lookit/2015...rookie-jusuf-nurkics-dad-is-a-7-400-pound-cop Jusuf Nurkic's dad is a policeman in Tuzla, Bosnia and Herzegovina. One day a Bosnian sports agent Enes Trnovcevic was reading a newspaper where he read: "Bosnian policeman, Hariz Nurkic has beaten 14 people in a fight." He knew what to do instantly! Next day he went to Tuzla and met with Nurkic's father. The only thing he asked him was: "Do you have a son?" Jusuf Nurkic was at that time a 14 years old boy and never trained basketball. Enes Trnovcevic took him to Slovenia and gave him an opportunity he accepted and used. Also, as of now, Portland owns the #11, #21 and #27 picks in the 2017 NBA Draft.
Dude already switched his Twitter stuff to Portland, he couldn't wait to get the fuck out of Denver, lol.
Ugh... you know what this trade means? We're going back to having our big man sag off of ball screens 100% of the time, because Stotts doesn't want Nurkic leaving the paint, and Nurkic will get 6 fouls in 10 minutes of game time having to guard endless 2 on 1's.
I'm extremely disappointed that we don't play SAC or MEM any more this year. Both Meyers and Nurkic have a history of pissing off both Boogie and Marc Gasol. Nurkic loves to talk shit, but he may want to choose his targets a little more wisely: and Meyers has a way of getting under people's skin just by merely existing. If we do start Nurkic and Meyers together, we may have the highest piss-off-ability of any team in the league. I'm actually fine with that. BNM
It will be nice to not be one of the more 'soft' teams in the league. Nurkic is a beast and plays with some attitude. Sorely needed in Portland.
