"I didn't have as good as life in the ball as I would have likedto," Rogers said. "But I located pretty well, sinker was OK.When I tried to go in with four-seamers, I located pretty well. For location-wise, it was good. For me, that's paramount."

The Rangers threatened in the fourth when Ian Kinsler hit aground-rule double to lead off the inning, and Young moved himto third with a ground-out to shortstop. Rogers strandedKinsler at third by getting Sammy Sosa to ground back to themound, and Marlon Byrd to pop out to first base.

"He is the same old pitcher," Kinsler said of Rogers. "He'sbeen doing the same things in his 53 years in major leaguebaseball."

The Tigers broke through against Texas righthander KevinMillwood in the fourth inning. Gary Sheffield walked and movedto second on a single to right field by Magglio Ordonez.Sheffield then stole third and scored on a wild pitch byMillwood.

"I was trying to make good contact," Guillen said. "He's a goodpitcher, it's been tough for me to hit off him. He's gotpretty good stuff. To me, it's one of the best in the league.I just tried to make good contact, use the whole field."

Millwood (4-7) failed to win his third straight start, allowingthree runs and five hits in six innings. He walked six andstruck out six.

"Aside from the walks, this was the best that I have thrownsince coming off the disabled list," Millwood said. "I'm veryencouraged by this start, I feel that I'm getting better everytime out."

Scott Feldman relieved Millwood to start the seventh and servedup a two-run homer to Sheffield, his 18th of the season.

"As long as we keep winning series, I'll be happy," Rangersmanager Ron Washington said. "We fought hard, but it's reallyhard to win against a team as great as the Tigers."

Todd Jones pitched a perfect ninth for the Tigers to record his18th save of the season.

"It was the perfect situation for him because we had a littleleeway," Tigers manager Jim Leyland said of Jones. "With thethree-run lead, it's good to get him back out there in thatsituation. Obviously he responded very well."
