King County Executive Ron Sims announced the choice Tuesday to state lawmakers."We in King County support this bill ... and are looking forward to working with the city of Renton," Sims said at the end of his testimony to a Senate Ways and Means Committee hearing on proposed bills that would authorize the use of King County taxes to build the facility."I don't want to see the Sonics or the (WNBA) Storm leave this community. They are very valuable to this community," Sims said. "These are quality-of-life investments."</div>

Good for them, this pretty much is a solid chance they arent leaving...it really sucks even thinking about your team leaving your city.

Awesome, they belong in Seattle. I wonder what this means for Oklahoma City and vegas locations...

This is great, I didn't want the Sonics to move. The Renton Supersonics, has good flow.

Well this should end the talks of them moving to another site in a different state which I didn't want to see. But at the same time it is bad for the city of Seattle that they are losing one of their major pro franchises. Wonder what they will do with the first name of the team....the Renton Supersonics, sounds weird.

Seattle is a great city and it would have been a shame to see the Sonics leave. It's a large and established city, so it would have just been odd. It would have been like the Celtics leaving Boston or the Pistons leaving Detroit.

A few teams actually play in the suburbs of their named city. The Pistons play in Auburn Hills Michigan which is about 20 miles north of Detroit.
