I think every team in the league could have given them a better package.

It already said early this year majority of the GM wouldn't touch cousins due to his behavior. You can be has talent as you want but if your behavior is bad then people will sour on you. I think Sac after last incident was enough for them and especially when his next contract he was looking for was over 200 million dollars.

To be fair, I wrote that on my 10 minute break - so I had no idea Cousins was traded before then. So your assumption is actually not wrong or right, because I didn't know. lol.

It's a good risk for New Orleans though. They will now be a decent free agent destination in the Summer and will do all in their power to bring Chris Paul back IMO. Cousins may or may not resign there but they will have at least 1.5 years of him for not much - one disappointing young player who is not even that young anymore, a solid but inspiring rotation player, an expiring contract and a first round pick that will not land somewhere between 15 and 20. If they did not feel like tanking it's a good choice.

Wow, that deal was ridiculous. It just goes to show what many here have already said, when teams offload a star with attitude issues, they usually don't get much in return. Some where saying we could never get Cousins without trading Lillard or CJ.

Portland could have offered something similar to NO, offering draft picks and Ezeli as an expiring contract. They could have even had anyone else on the roster aside from Damian and CJ. I wonder if we were ever in the running.

But we're any of them willing to? Maybe Cousins agent told SAC he was going to walk, and maybe it's a popular belief that it will be hard to resign him.

He's been literally trapped in an unpleasant situation his whole career, it would only make sense for him to want to choose where he plays as a FA.

Most GM's aren't in the game of making massive risks, but it actually makes sense for the Pelicans to swing for the fences.

I guess I'm in the minority, but I think this was a great move for Sac.

What makes this worse (and maybe it was said already) but apparently Pistons put up Drummond for Cousions and sac said no. LOOOOOL. I mean, there's bad decisions, then there's taking NO's offer when you could have a great center in return. Unreal.

So, something to think about. Maybe now Sacremento will be moving to Seattle - thus, Portland stays! See?!

    Several reasons.

    1. Don't think he nor Sac wanted to re-sign this offseason.

    2. Too much of a head case to win anything at this point.

    3. Sac is not done dealing. Vlade trying to mimic Ainge plan in Boston
