Sorry but that would be boring! He may have a real opportunity here and he's just going to let it pass him by?
Hasn't stopped him before. Its like having the RLEC all over again. He could make something happen. Let's see if he has it in him to do something that would absolutely blow our minds. Keeping the picks and saying 'Welp, it's time to rebuild!" After what he has done in the last two years absolutely makes no sense
If Neil keeps the picks players in this draft probably won't be true contributes till Dame and CJ are in there 30's.
You absolute madman. I assume Portland's three picks are going to Chicago in that. I'd do that (obviously, I guess?). But all of this depends on interpreting David Aldridge's comment as Butler and George being in play for Portland's three picks and I think Schilly and RR7 are correct in saying Aldridge meant they'd get any of Portland's (more modest) actual targets.
Good fun. So the Blazers line-up is: Dame / Rondo / Napier / Quarterman Butler / Turner / Connaughton George / Turner / Layman Vonleh / Aminu Big Bear / Davis I'm up for that.
In that lineup, I'd start Davis over Vonleh. That's a contending lineup, no room for giving out starter minutes for development. Davis would provide rebounding, defense and rim runs off pick-and-rolls with...those other dudes.
If we trade for a 32 year old player, I'd be despondent - and Neil should be fired. IMO we should be going with a youth refresh. Nurkic - 22 years old Get Okafor - 21 years old Harkless - 23 years old Then decide which of Dame / CJ you want at point to build around: DL/CJ at 26/25 years old Trade all of our other pieces for draft picks. Re-Tool the roster with youngsters at the draft. Maybe we could package some of our assets (with our own pick) to move up in the draft Lonzo Ball CJ Harkless Okafor / Isaac Nurkic OR Lillard Jackson Harkless Okafor / Markkanen Nurkic These options are just so much more appealing than wasting resources on a 32 year old Millsap to just watch him slowly lose athleticism/breakdown over the next few years as he helps propel us into NBA purgatory.
If he has no interest in it now then it would prove pretty hard to turn him or get him fully invested in the attempt of making it work.
Any hope of obtaining Butler/George hinges on it being a Draft Day trade - it's not going to happen at the deadline. Waiting assures CHI/IND that our pick will be better than if we made the trade at the deadline. Also, the excitement of the draft will help grease the skids a heck of a lot more on Draft Day than it does 4 months before the draft.
Given how low the bar has been set at PF (and even SF to an extent) I don't think it's unrealistic to think that a rookie could outperform any PF we have on the roster. Are there any 4-year PFs in the draft?
Not many. http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Alec-Peters-77931/ http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Nigel-Hayes-69526/ http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Luke-Kornet-78500/ http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Chris-Boucher-96177/
What's the word on Chris Boucher? I can't remember if we have any 2nds in this draft, but if we do how about using one on this guy? Physique reminds me of Gobert. Skimming the report on him, his defense also sounds Gobert-esque, but with ability to stretch the floor on offense. I'm already sold on him being better than any of our PFs!!!
