scholars are more often than not..not military strategists or politicians....Iran has a diverse population that I'm sure encompasses many different levels of traditions as well as modern thought...most Iranians are under 30 years of age and there is a movement in modern Iraq to get away from old dated practices...seems to happen everywhere.

They started lying when the election cycle started. They lied last time, too. Of course there's a conspiracy. The reporters from WaPost appear on CNN all the time (for example).

So they lie when "they lose" and they lie when "they win" and somehow a 2014 article is credible even though it lands in between two points on the corruption timeline that you've identified (2012 election and 2016 election). It's almost like there's no actual objective criteria to your claims of fake news at all and you link the articles when they say what you want and deride them as fake news when they don't say what you want.
The only 'soft targets' we should be talking about are the ones that Obama and Bush have bombed the last 16 years.
