aha, tv programming hath changed, and the game is ON.... TV that is....~!~ yeah buddy, bring it.....I already feel intoxicated....! Intoxicated with Spring Fever...! http://m.mlb.com/gameday/orioles-vs...game=509822,game_state=live,game_tab=boxscore
Hicks -RF Sanchez -C Bird -1B Holliday -DH Castro -2B Headley -3B Refsnyder -LF Frazier -CF Torres -SS Warren -P
Bird is the word, indeed. Hope he stays healthy and hot; has a great year anchoring 1st. Holliday was a great pick up, and will give the team his share of leadership by example, RBI's with RISP. I don't want to give Cashman his due with Holliday, so I'll say they got him from the tooth fairy. He looks automatic, as much as 'Sanchise' looks comfy and ready to prove he's the elite Catcher in MLB. He's already proven that much imo, even if it were less than 60 gms. I may of been out of order stating, in yesterday's game post: "With Torres, and Frazier playing to expectations, the Yanx could off load Mateo and Andujar". I'd rather see a young error prone Andujar learn how to play 3rd base, than Headcase try to prove he's anything above sub-par; or a short term band aid. Frazier's a CF'r, no sense in converting to an INF pos, when we need a real CF'r, if you call Ellsbury one, well that's your gig, (talking to no one in particular, just spitballin') Now if only Mateo, ("the Yanx top base stealing, fastest running prospect?") could steal 182 in 383 minor league gms; one would think he may have a future on the base paths on one team or another. But- stealing bases in rookie ball, and A-+ball is not always a big feat. This stat alone could be misleading???? But I don't really know in this case; eg: the beauty of ST, and this time of year, watching, feeling out who looks like they've got the right stuff or not....With only flashes, glimpses of some prospects, ie from the Future's game, AZ Fall Lg games, or what few Minor Lg games one can see, as well as ST, this is really the 1st look we've had at most of the nri's.... ST, the time of the year, when I realize just how little I really know, the time is young still, and no sense in over analyzing....I see all here seem to get this much, (most more than I) {smirk} - expectations run high, more so does reality...
The Bird is the word, looks like this team is going to have some pop this season. Be great if a couple of the young pitchers step it up to keep the pitching level.
Pitching has been spot on and the Offense has been unreal. Now how this plays out during the Season is still a mystery. So far I'm liking what I see.
geezus, talk about depth on this team, depth like never before, or is this also ST madness, ie baseball and spring over zealousness.....? McKinney, today's hero? 6 RBI's, wtf-.... wow....~ b/t Judge, Hicks, Fowler, McKinney, M. Williams, McKinney, Frazier, this could be an interesting decision who becomes the Yanx daily RF'er. McKinney's stroke is reminiscent of Lenny Dykstra and Paul O'Neill, imo.... tough decisions Girardi will have to make, or perhaps they will make themselves.....?
For the first time in moons we are seeing a Yankees Camp where the young guys can compete to earn a roster spot instead of being left out by a bunch of overpaid underachieving prima donnas. And that is paying off with Spring Training performance instead of the old "it's only spring bullshit". Twenty Seven World Championships ain't worth a shit when your last one was nine years ago. Time to field a team that is going to go out there and kick some ass. From Field Level all is progressing, but I still worry about the Brass.
...this ^^^ ...been saying the same thing for awhile now...I cannot give Cashman a "get out of jail free" card for his past faux pas which force us to endure several years of mediocrity...the Yanx are not of the same ilk as the Padres or Marlins or A's et al, who seem to almost annually rebuild their rosters. ...Cashman also needs to stop being such a pussy when it comes to negotiating contracts...it seems that his only resource is to over pay and over extend players ...and of course, don't forget about the obligatory "no trade clause" and "opt out clause'...grow a set of cojones, Cashman.
^^^^..... to all the above.... Cashman's opt out contracts could easily be a big problem in yrs to come. Crazy they obtain all the right pieces, then allow proven vets to walk, opt out when they will be needed most, another wtf moment to come.....until the Yanx earn #28, Cashman gets no passing grades, no go, or get out of jail free... and yep, the 3 biggest wtf's left, CC, Headcase, and Ellsburied...!
...and don't forget, Tanaka was given an option to "opt out" after this season...and Aroldis Chapman's 5 year deal gives him an "opt out" after 3 years. Absolutely no reason to have given either one of them an opt out clause, other than the fact that Cashman is a weak negotiator of contracts.
