So: the ideal player for us would be Young Kevin Garnett, or possibly Young Chris Bosh - incredibly versatile defender who can rebound and hit jump shots. But is there a player anything close to that in the pipeline? I don't think so. This draft seems to be strongest in PGs and SFs. Does Thon Maker seem like he might become that player? He seems like he might have the potential. He's not a startling athlete, but he is mobile and incredibly long. The only downside is if that whole thing about his age turns out to be true.

    Thoughts?

He is player that I was high on last year draft. Heard is doing well for the Bucks. High energy guy.

Hartenstein is a long ways off (raw, high TO%), but he could be that kind of player in a couple years.

He doesn't have the length of the guys mentioned, but he has quick feet, is a fluid athlete and might be able to shoot (his release is a little funky right now). Sees the floor too.

We should start a phone campaign to urge the Blazers and Bucks to make a deal. We could call it the Tele-Thon. Maker it happen!

So the ideal player for us at PF is a future HOFer?

Careful, that limb must be about to break.

    THAT'S GENIUS!

    Seriously, I love it!

We should draft players who are already drafted. We could use our late 1st round picks to take Lebron and Anthony Davis. Heck, I'd use a 2nd round pick to take Batum just to fuck with him.

    Well, it worked with Sabonis.

But seriously, where did I say by draft? Obviously we would trade for him and I was working up to say we'd trade CJ if people liked him enough, knowing that if I said that up front everybody would just get all mad.

I can't help but think what a Batum Nurkic pairing would be like...the Nic and Nurk

It depends on how you define athleticism. I would describe a 7 footer who can crossover people as athletic.

That said, he doesn't seem to have great leaping ability, and we don't know yet about his endurance.

It's not. He came to Australia at age 5. For the conspiracy theorists to be correct, he would have had to have changed his age before he came to Australia; before he had even heard of the game of basketball, let alone picked one up (he was discovered in Australia, playing soccer, at 14 years of age). Which would be the greatest long game con in the history of sports.

Or you have to believe that the Australian Department of Immigration and Border Protection is so incompetent that they can't keep track of the age of a refugee that they let into the country at one age, then left the country at another age. There is no way that this would happen. Australian politics is so paranoid about immigration, that we make US officials look like amateurs.

I can't remember which podcast it was (one of the national NBA guys about 2 months ago) Milwaukee is super high on Thon. Zero percent chance they trade him.

The Bucks would be reluctant to part with Maker. They have been starting him, so they want to see how he develops and obviously still believe in their draft pick. You would have to offer something over the top just to bridge the gap of current talent vs expectations. If not CJ then they would want good contracts like Harkless/Davis, and a first round pick.

I think CJ can be traded for an allstar if he's moved..and I don't think he'll be moved. .a Jimmy Butler caliber player..CJ's value is pretty high right now.
