More coming in Oregon. Fuck these things. http://www.oregonlive.com/portland/index.ssf/2017/03/drivers_slow_down_or_else_auto.html
I got hit by a speed camera about 10 years ago. It was on Burnside Bridge going East. I was probably going 35 mph to 40 mph, but it's a freaking incline and about 100 feet up you see a 40 mph sign. They put the camera in between the speed limit sign and the bridge. So technically it was a 25 mph speed limit. I was going to fight the ticket, and even showed up to the hearing. It was clear it was going to be a long day so I just pled out to avoid wasting any more of my time.
I have zero problem with these things, unless their location and installation are kept secret. If you know where they are, slow down until you get past it. Simple.
The camera has seen you! YOU don't want to go against the COLLECTIVE do you? We are sending you this pill in the mail in loo of payment for first offense. Take it and ignore any headaches for about a year.
What are the police to lazy to actually do their jobs and make their quotas on traffic stops instead of depending on machines to do their jobs.
Or the other perspective--putting cameras out to monitor speeding frees police up to actually be able to do their jobs.
Trivia: I understand that in the UK these cameras are called "Gatsos" after the company that makes them, Gatsometer, which was founded by rally driver Maurice Gatsonides, who invented them to help himself drive faster, and then figured out that they could be used to make everyone else drive slower. Bastard. barfo
And having fewer cops assigned to traffic patrol makes more resources available for other policing activities, benefiting the public as a whole.
I don't see why this matters at all, anyone bitching just needs to frankly diaf. Don't like getting ticketed? Learn how to avoid being caught speeding. Yeah for stop and frisk!
