Quick mentioned tonight that the team felt like he could have played on his knee with minute restrictions but Festus didn't feel comfortable risking having knee complications for the rest of his life (which is probably inevitable anyways). Festus never had a setback just a lot of swelling which I think is what the team expected anyways. That being said, Festus and the organization aren't exactly on the best of terms and I'm sure both sides can't wait to end the relationship after this year.

    So yea, fuck that guy.

Perhaps, but I'll take it with a grain of salt per usual.

A healthy Ezeli and no more Meyers, that's what I call a win/win situation

Haha. I'll say it for you. I love playing basketball. If I had to choose between playing basketball, or being paid $8 million, plus free surgeries on my bad knees, and lounging around instead of playing, I'll take the $8 million. Nice work if you can get it.

If that's the case, there is absolutely no benefit of keeping his contract on the books. Cut him now & move on.

Having said that, I don't think Quick is accurate with that report

I'd consider keeping Festus if this procedure works...I don't know where the bad relationship with the team comes from though...I sure haven't seen anything that strikes me as disgruntled from him.

If they manage to include him as part of a trade around draft time - his $1m goes away from next year's salary - which could bring the team closer to the cap.

They will keep him until the last minute and will only cut him if they can not trade his contract.

With the tax implication - he is a lot more than $7m to pay.

If they believe they can contend next year, maybe, but I suspect that this is still looking like a team that is 2 - 3 years away anyway.

My belief is that if he is not moved during the draft, he is waived.

Yes I don't think he will be next year especially if they find out is rehab will for a long time. Some people thinks it will take a year to rehab and there know way Neil keep him if that true. Neil will try trade him during the draft in maybe package deal with some else or there will be team out there that don't have a 1st and will try to get in and that another way unload him.

His ligaments were so good they put enough pressure to snap kneecaps. He doesn't need them.

One of my wife's employee's daughters had a cadaver ligament surgery recently and her body rejected it. I think she has to have one taken from somewhere else in her own body now.

It's a year long recovery process. I think.

Not to be a broken record, but if we hadn't signed Meyers maybe you take a risk on him for another year. But as of now, he's good as gone. I wonder if he was playing the Blazers from the start.
