Refs gave this game to Carolina. If I was AV I would refuse to ever play a game again with whichever ref is 19. He had the audacity to say that Raanta initiated contact out of the crease, DESPITE THE FACT HE NEVER LEFT THE CREASE. This bullshit review process the NHL has is a god damn joke. Let's give the refs a 4 inch screen to look at and then also expect the same refs on the ice to admit that they fucked up on ice and disallow a goal to a home team. This shit is gonna be AWFUL in the playoffs against a team like Montreal and Pittsburgh where officiating is already shady. Only in the NHL would they let this shit happen lol
Glass has been fine. The one ref fucked the Rangers in this game with that bullshit 3rd allowed goal where Raanta was hit in the head.
If AV has any balls he goes OFF on the official after the game on the ice and in the press conference and tells the NHL to go ahead and fine him, but that ref doesn't belong anywhere near a hockey rink.
Yes that was a bad call however they played like pure garbage up until that point. No defense, whatsoever. I really hope this coach gets canned after this season.
I agree with both of you guys. The fact that AV put Glass on the PK is pretty laughable. I mean really AV...the PK for Glass. Glass has actually been decent in his 3 games, but not on the PK AV. The 3rd goal was a joke. Never should have been allowed. Angered me. On the L, what can you do. 3rd game in 4 nights, missing many players. 3rd period was a no show until late when they fell behind 4-3. Could use the 2 days off, and hopefully a couple of guys will be back at Detroit. Big picture dropping games here and there is good and will keep us firmly in the Atlantic bracket. Even though Montreal looks real good right now with Price on his game, still rather play them than the Pens or BJ's.
What is wrong with you Step? I mean come on now. Team was missing about 8 players, their # 1 goalie, playing 3rd game in 4 nights, and got a BS goal allowed against them. Just stop man. They had nothing in the 3rd period and lost a game, it happens. No reason to flip out given all that was going on tonight.
He is garbage who should never kill penalties or put in these situations. This idiot coach has to go. He benches Buch and plays Glass the last 5 minutes of the game. I actually feel bad for Glass as he is put in on the ice by this idiot coach where he does not belong on the NHL ice.
Not gonna happen. They just gave him an extension. Unless they shit the bed totally and get TOTALLY embarrassed out there in the playoffs, he will be here next year and most likely throughout the entire year. I do think it's funny that many here will defend him though when this team has gotten knocked out earlier and earlier each season and yet they all say Torts was awful, yet they both brought this team to a Cup final (AV with Torts' team and a mesh of styles in his first year and then has gotten worse as he has made them play more of his style, which is all offense and fuck defense) but AV gets a pass and Torts gets crushed. We will see what this team does in the playoffs, but if they look like shit and get bounced in 5 then AV has got to go.
I have less of an issue with Glass on the PK then being on the ice in the last 3-4 minutes at even strength. I really don't know why AV is such a fucking moron with Glass.
I'll say one thing about Glass. Either we are all idiots, or the announcers, coaches, people associated with the team are blind. Whenever you hear Sam, or Joe, or the post game crew, or the coaches talk about Glass they say great things. It always puzzles me and makes me say either they lie through their teeth, have no clue what they are watching, or can't be objective about what they are seeing. Very strange. One thing I will say about AV is he certainly does play favorites. I guess most coaches do, but Glass has a couple of decent games in his minimal role, and now AV goes over board and plays him on the PK and in big spots late. I'm sure injuries and 3rd game in 4 nights play a role in that, but still AV does go overboard sometimes. With that said, getting on Glass is an easy out...he had nothing to do what the result tonight, so this is a sidebar conversation I think. Injuries and not much left in the 3rd were the issues tonight. And special teams cannot put it all together on same night. PP finally scores, and the PK was awful. Oh well.
Given all the injuries I don't think they played that bad of a game. They probably win this game if not for that one ref going full retard. This team though really lacks scorers. How many times do we see guys missing wide open nets, or just the net in general and shooting way wide and high? That's been an issue for a while and regardless of the players they bring in, it keeps happening. One thing I really noticed tonight was that more guys were crashing the net, but doing so with pisspoor communication. Three guys would all crash the net, and then Ward, who has amazing rebound control, would put the puck where a ranger should have been but instead had decided to crash the net with the 1 or 2 other players. Baffling out there with that. Another thing I noticed on odd man rushes with Vesey, he stopped skating 3-4 times and had a puck played to where he should have been if he keeps skating. He stopped multiple times and the pass would go to where he should've been and he could've scored but instead he coasted into the zone or just stopped skating all together. Bad game from him tonight in that regard. Only one game at least, but all in all, they should've had two points but got robbed by that official.
PP good-PK bad so that's a wash. Good to see Zib starting to pick it up. No big deal of a loss really though you hate losing after leading into the 3rd. Odd man rushes and not completely missing nets as much still need to help them come playoff time.
Vigneault is 187-103-24 .634 in what's not yet four years. The best four year stretch since Emile Francis coached the team and he should be fired and replaced by whom exactly?
Mess, the regular season means nothing. He has had teams that had enough talent to win the cup and never did and I don't think with his pacifist philosophy especially when things get nasty in the playoffs he ever will win a cup. His personnel moves especially on defense and his defensive system if you want to call it that is opposite what he should be playing with the talent available. I just have no confidence in Mr. bubblegum getting us over the top. As for who replaces him how about a young hungry assistant somewhere. I won't get into the glass debate unless I see him on the first PP instead of kreids.
I don't buy it. An overtime break early in that Los Angeles series and things could've been a lot different. As for a young hungry assistant that's a cop out. Who exactly? Fire a winning coach to bring in a complete unknown? A poor way to run any organization.
While I disagree with his personnel decisions a lot, and I was very down on him after the Pens series last year, this argument always makes me laugh. So an AV-coached team can win 15 playoff games but will obviously, most definitely, never ever win 16. Right. He's not perfect, but he's the best coach we've had here in a long time. Some people are never satisfied. Whoever we replace him with will also be run out of town within 2 years by the same people now calling for AV's head.
