What exactly do each of these mean? I've never fully understood these two terms.Who's the best are creating their own shots, who's the 'best' at forcing them?I hear Kobe's name under creating your own shot a ton.

Creating a shot is when you take the ball and put yourself in posistion to score. Forcing a shot is when you take a bad shot or a shot that's not in the flow of the offense. The two terms are uncomparable in my opinion. It's too hard to define what was a forced shot and a created shot - it's all about your opinion and how you look at it.

Creating your shot means that you can catch the ball from just about anywhere and get into a position where you get a fairly good look, whether it be a jumpshot or at rim. Forcing a shot is simply taking a bad, usually highly contested jumper of high difficulty.

Creating a shot is something that guys like Tracy McGrady, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Dirk Nowitzki, Gilbert Arenas, etc. all do very well. You can give them the ball, clear out, and you know that they are going to get a clean look. They are just that good. They can take someone off the dribble, create enough space between his defender for a jumper, step-back, you name it.Forcing a shot is something that Rafer Alston does a lot. He'll pull up off the dribble with a defender right in his face, and he'll try and hit a long jumper. When you force a shot, you don't have a clean look (or you can't get yourself a clean look).

Forcing shots will result in a lower percentage but every once in a while u ge ton fire.Jamal Crawford Pulling up threes and shots all over the place.Creating your own shot- will lead to a higher percentage most of the time. Knowing your area(sweetspot) where u Cassell's mid-range jumper over his stone foot defender left 1 step behind , from a screen or right in the defenders faceSimply put Cassell Knows what he is doing and you can easily tell he will make it always on fire. Also note Tim Duncans bankshots.

Well for me when I think of creating a shot I think of Kobe Bryant and T-Mac as two of the bestAs for forcing the shots I think of Gilbert Arenas and Ben Gordon.

I would like to add that creating a shot is usually when you maneuver off the dribble, or with ball fakes as well..

Kobe is deff the best at creating his own shot.
