I figure it's a good thread to pin/sticky. Ask any question about anything NBA related, and the other members here can try to answer. One I have is: Is there a certain date each year that prospects have to declare for the draft?

I don't have the exact date off the top of my head.Ginger Jesus, this is all I know about your question off the top of my head: underclassmen have until April 29 to declare for the draft. I don't know the exact date for seniors and international players though.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Ya so is there any kind of deadline to sign free agents?</div>Depends I believe. Isn't there a deadline in the offseason. Then one for 10 day contracts and signings during the season. Also, the cutoff for playoff rosters. There's a lot of dates pertaining to free agent signings.

All 10 day contracts can be signed on the 10th of January, that is also the day when all contracts become garenteed for the season. The last day for teams to sign a player that can be eligible for the playoffs is usually march 1st or second. that rule is open to exception however, a team can sign a player who they had previously signed and that player can still play for that team in the playoffs. IE if a team signs a guy for training camp, cut him, they can usually bring him back and still use him in the playoffs. There is also exceptions given to teams if they have a lot of injuries and need an extra player for the playoffs.

All players who wish to be drafted, and are not automatically eligible, must declare their eligibility on or before the first declaration date. After this date, prospective draftees may attend NBA pre-draft camps and individual team workouts to show off their skills and obtain feedback regarding their draft positions. A player may withdraw his name from consideration from the draft at any time before the final declaration date, which is one week before the draft.</div>an an in depth memo to college playershttp://www.draftexpress.com/viewarticle.php?a=1267<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>TO: Men's Basketball Student-Athletes with Remaining Eligibility.FROM: Rachel Newman BakerDirector of Agent, Gambling and Amateurism ActivitiesSteve MalloneeManaging Director of Membership Services/Division I Governance LiaisonSUBJECT: Information Regarding the 2006 NBA Draft, Agents, and Tryouts. We understand that you may have remaining intercollegiate eligibility, but may also have a desire to "test the waters" as it relates to your pursuit of a potential professional basketball career.
