He actually was in Trenton NJ for the first Riverfest (a BBQ paradise) which featured great bands like "The Band" and Little Feat He subbed for the drummer in the band. We were amazed! He actually kept good tempo.
I'm gonna have to see that! Looks pretty good! My favorite movie from the 70s (and I haven't seen many...) has to be "The Outlaw Josey Wales". Wait...was the "Dirty Harry" franchise from the 70s? I love those. Only seen a couple of them, and the rest in bits and pieces though.
That has the best Clint Eastwood exchange that most people don't know: "You a bounty hunter?" "Man's got to earn a living." "Dyin' ain't much of a living" [Update: looked it up on YouTube: But the '70s is pretty much the golden age of Hollywood movies. And I'm not even that much of a fan of the Godfathers.
I vote for any Indiana Jones movie as it had great sequence, great music, suspense, humor and also stood up to the ultimate test of being a part of a great trilogy. I think the movies had good taste as cursing was not necessary ................
I reaaaaallly dislike Temple of Doom and Crystal Skull. Loved Last Crusade. Cheesy, but I can watch National Treasure every single time it comes on TBS.
I wasn't a big fan of the Temple of Doom, only because it was the only movie my aunt and uncle in Ukiah California had. So every time we visited when I was a child, it was all they could play for us kids. I haven't seen the movie in years though. Like you, I really like "National Treasure". Funny how it became such a classic almost instantly, while being hated by many at the same time.
On an unrelated note, I would like to suggest a brilliant adaptation of the story "Oliver Twist", which aired on BBC One in 2007 (aired in the US in 2009). Directed by Coky Giedroyc. It is one of THE greatest things on screen that I have ever seen in my life; movie or television. Ever. Absolutely BRILLIANT acting all around in that show. Tom Hardy played a brilliant psychopath with a violent temper in his role as Bill Sykes. He used his past as a drug addict and alcoholic to form the character, and he was utterly stunning. I'm fucking serious...his character was downright terrifying. Another stand-out performance in this film was actor Julian Rhind-Tutt as "Edward/Monks". Wanna talk about a scumbag character....he nailed it perfectly. The Dark Knight isvthe best action movie ever, assuming the Godfather isn't an action movie. Raiders of the Lost Ark is quite good also
