Just out of curiousity what is their defensive ratings since after the all star break? or maybe for March? I am wondering about the Nurk factor. This particular advanced stat seems to be based on who is on the floor with you. So I wonder if it has improved at all.

Actually, in this hypothetical trade scenario, I'd hope we'd start Turner at the 2 (for defense and ball-handling) and keep Crabbe coming off the bench, since he's so much more 1-dimensional.

I wouldn't trade CJ for Saric, but I would trade him for Jimmy Butler.

Here's the TEAM ratings, before and after the all star break.

    Pre All Star: OFFRTG = 106.5, DEFRTG = 109.0, NETRTG = -2.5, Rank = 23
    Post All Star: OFFRTG = 111.4, DEFRTG = 107.6, NETRTG = +3.8, Rank = 6

The defense has gotten better, but the offense has improved even more. With both moving in the right direction, our NETRTG has gone from 23rd in the league (pre all star) to 6th in the league (post all star).

In a more traditional sense, our average point differential has gone from -2.8 ppg to +3.2 ppg. That's a pretty impressive turnaround.

Turner is actually a pretty good fit next to Dame at SG, so yeah, it's not a terrible idea. I haven't watched enough games with Saric to have much of an opinion about him.

I've been for trading CJ for a while now, and while Nurk has definitely turned the Blazers' season around, the reason for trading CJ still makes sense. We have few trade assets and several needs, we owe a lot of money for a fringe playoff team, and we have a terribly porous back court defense.

We're really not that far away from it being a Lillard/Nurk team (with CJ on the side), as opposed to a Lillard/CJ team, if we aren't there already. Nurk and CJ are certainly at least tied in my mind for "second banana" title.

That's just my opinion, though. My agenda is to shoot for a championship. Neil Olshey may have a different agenda.

Dame, CJ, some versatile defenders at PF/SF (Aminu/Vonleh/Harkless for now, but hopefully something better down the road) and Nurkic seems like a team that would sell tickets on their way to some second round exits for several years. If I were GM and interested in job security, I might be very inclined to just keep that strategy. If you trade CJ and it doesn't work, you're getting fired. If you keep CJ and just adjust around the Dame/Nurk/CJ core, you probably keep your job for a while no matter what.

For Crabbe and C.J. (insert obligatory small sample size post all star disclaimer):

    C.J. McCollum:
    Pre All Star: OFFRTG = 107.9, DEFRTG = 109.3, NETRTG = -1.4
    Post All Star: OFFRTG = 110.6, DEFRTG = 107.4, NETRTG = +3.2

    Allen Crabbe:
    Pre All Star: OFFRTG = 104.1, DEFRTG = 110.3, NETRTG = -6.2
    Post All Star: OFFRTG = 110.7, DEFRTG = 109.4, NETRTG = +1.3

You didn't ask, but someone will...

    Damian Lillard:
    Pre All Star: OFFRTG = 108.4, DEFRTG = 110.7, NETRTG = -2.3
    Post All Star: OFFRTG = 113.4, DEFRTG = 107.0, NETRTG = +6.4

And, the biggest turnaround on the team (not surprisingly)...

    Noah Vonleh:
    Pre All Star: OFFRTG = 96.0, DEFRTG = 105.5, NETRTG = -9.6
    Post All Star: OFFRTG = 109.1, DEFRTG = 100.8, NETRTG = +8.3

With Embiid injured and Noel traded, I believe Dario is Philly’s #1 O option and best rebounder. He is handling it well, but once he is the second or third option when Simmons returns, who knows. His numbers will go down and possibly by a lot. .

Philly would need to add sweeteners (draft picks) to make this trade work. Dario is going to be a good BB player, but not on CJs level.

Yep, the big fish, small pond scenario (appropriate analogy, given your username). On a bad team someone has to score, and right now Saric is putting up big numbers because PHI doesn't really have many other options. I'm not saying Saric sucks. He clearly doesn't, but his scoring, especially, will go down when he's surrounded by more talent. Kudos to him for seizing the opportunity, but I'd want a much bigger sample size before I'd give up a PROVEN 2nd option on a playoff team for a rookie on a 20 game hot streak.

You don't think Saric is just having his rookie Jake Layman 17 pts in a flash moment? He might come back to earth but to trade CJ for this rookie....you can get an allstar for CJ ...and we're not trading CJ anytime soon

Would we? Of course not, so that's my point. No one is trading an all star we would want for CJ. Maybe CJ and assets, but not straight up

I disagree with this...a lot of teams would trade an allstar for CJ.....but he wouldn't be as young probably.

I thought the person who started the post voted 'Yes" but who else would do such a thing? Saric is okay and young but CJ is so much better!
