<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>The Boston Celtics announced today that they have assigned rookie guard Allan Ray to their NBA Development League affiliate Austin Toros. Ray is the team?s first assignment to the NBA Development League this season and the 19th NBA player to be assigned to the Development League. Ray appeared in 33 games averaging 4.9 points and 1.1 rebounds in 10.6 minutes per game at the time of the assignment. Ray was ranked third among NBA rookies in three-point field goal percentage with a mark of .391. The 6?2” guard out of Villanova will be coached by former Boston Celtics point guard Dennis Johnson with Austin who is in its first year as an affiliate of the Celtics.</div>http://realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/447...ay_to_d_league/Finally! Good for Allan..he'll probably get a lot of play down there..hes proven when given a chance he can play at the NBA level..I think the D League will be great for him and help just like it did GeraldEDIT: This also probably means theres gonna be a trade at the deadline and Danny needed to make room...and this probably means Danny has finally picked a direction to go in

I like this. Ray needs to work on his all-around game, especially on the defensive end. He's a great shooter, though. The kid is absolutely lights out. Playing down there will certainly benefit him more than sitting on the bench here.

I wouldn't mind having Leon Powe down there with him. I love The Powe Show (lol yes, that's what I call him) and I do think he deserves 5-8 mpg or something around there, but he's not getting any time. Plus, I don't know if the C's should get too carried away with playing Gomes at the 3 at all times. To me, he's still a natural 4 that CAN play the 3. If Gomes was 2 inches taller, he'd never play the 3. His game is that of a PF, he's a banger, he's a scrapper, he makes all the hustle plays.

But anyway, back on topic, good luck A-Ray!

Allan needs this. He definitely needs the consistent playing time. Like CB32 said, work on his all around game, maybe get into a little rhythm, and come back later and maybe come off the bench as a shooting role player and help us win a game or two with some shooting off the bench.

This is great for him. It wasnt doing him any good just rotting on the bench for the entire year. Now that Paul and Wally are back, he would absolutley get ZERO minutes. Now that he is in the D-league, he is going to get alot of playing time, and I think he will definatey shine. He cant get any worse from this. I definitely think he will benefit from this.
