FLUSHING, New York (Ticker) -- The last time the New York Metsfaced St. Louis starter Adam Wainwright he was putting thefinishing touches on their season.

Carlos Beltran and the New York Mets look to exact some revengeagainst Wainwright as they wrap up a four-game series with theCardinals on Thursday.

Beltran struck out looking with the bases loaded on nastybreaking ball by Wainwright to end Game Seven of the NationalLeague Championship Series here last October.

Meanwhile, Wainwright (6-6,4.58 ERA), who was the closing inplace of the injured Jason Isringhausen, has had an inconsistentseason in his first year starting. The 26-year-old righthanderhas alternated wins and losses in his last four starts.

In his last start, Wainwright beat Philadelphia on Saturday, allowing two runs and seven hits in six innings.

Wainwright will be opposed by Orlando Hernandez (3-3, 2.77), whodid not face the Cardinals in the NLCS due to a calf injury.Hernandez did face St. Louis the first week of the season andsurrendered just one run and five hits in seven innings on April3.

Hernandez, who will try and help the Mets to their sixth win inseven games against St. Louis, is winless in his last fourstarts. On Saturday, Hernandez allowed just six hits in sevenscoreless innings, but received no run support in a 1-0 loss toOakland.
