We had this topic before, but that was like two weeks into the season. Who do yall think is underrated? I know poeple are probably going to say Kevin Martin and Deron Williams, but IMO they arent underrated. Personally, I think its Jamal Crawford, hes been playing great for New York.

Paul Pierce: IMO one of the top ten players in the league, but never gets recognition because he's been stuck with the Celtics sh*tty management all of his career. He's been great in the playoffs and led us to the ECF's once. Mehmet Okur: How good has this guy gotten? He drills big three after big three. One of the best shooting big men in the NBA, and he isn't exactly a pussy on the boards either like a lot of good shooting white big men are. I love the way he plays.

Raymond Felton is up there...he's usually outshadowed by the other PGs in his class (Chris Paul and Deron Williams) when he's one of the best in the business and turning into a great player for Charlotte

Carlos Boozer. 22/12/3 on 57% shooting and helped lead that team to a 3rd place record in the West. Despite this, he is never mentioned amongst the best big men in the league.

Last year, it was Agent 0, this year, I'm going with Joe Johnson. I think if that team gets a few more players, they would be VERY hard to beat.

Paul Pierce, Carlos Boozer, and Okur are NOT underrated IMO. I agree with Curry and Joe Johnson, but I think Howard gets the recognition he deserves...atleast from fans like us. I cant really say anyhting about Gasol, because to me, Gasol is overpopularized cause hes my teams best player. So I dont really see how a fan can say one of there players is underrated, cause you probably dont get a clear perspective.

I agree, recently everytime I see Wallaces stat line, hes got 30 points, 5 rebounds and a bunch of steals and blocks. If Charlotte ever got good enough, I could see him as a allstar.

Statistically, outside of blocks, his season is similar to a Tim Duncan yer in his prime. 22/12/3 on 57% shooting is amazing. Yet, you rarely ever hear his name mentioned amongst the league's top 15 players.

Because of his defense, defenders tend to get more recognition. But he was still a allstar, and the way Duncan got 20 and 12, might be alot different than the way Boozer gets it...stats arent everything.

He deserves to be mentioned with the other great big men in the league. Right now he isn't even being mentioned as a star, and I just feel that he is being greatly overlooked.Doesn't matter how he gets it done. Bottom line is he gets what he gets, and it has translated into wins for the jazz. he steps up when his team needs him, and has had 38/15 nights to get those wins. He deserves to be mentioned with the best big men in the league, yet he is constantly overlooked.

how is he not mentioned as a star, when he was a selected allstar? He was overlooked last season, but I dont think he is this season at all. People throw in that MVP category, which his defense is holding him back a bit in that race. btw, Dirk is the best offensive big man.

Having 2 other all star caliber players and not being a top 2 team in the league is why. I know Dirk is the best offensive big man, but you can definately make a case for Boozer with what he has done this season. When I say underrated, I mean by the media and general NBA follower. Take a look around this site for instance. You see tons of topics about other big men...Yao, Duncan, KG, Dirk, Howard, etc...but VERY little about Boozer. You never see him compared to any other all star big men, and he just seems to fly under the radar. Just because he was selected as an all star doesn't mean he is not underrated.

Bynum has great potential and all, but hes not overrated. Hes shined in moments, but hasnt really done anything to get star recognition. I dont think Melo is underrated either...

If he puts up these type of numbers consistently in the next year or two he will be considered one of the elite big men, just give it some time. For most of his career, he has just been a 15 and 9 guy. Also, that 57% shooting is great, but when you consider 90% of those shots come from inside the paint, it isn't that impressive.

The most underrated player in the NBA is Quentin Ross. I've explained why before. He plays very solid defense, backing up Cuttino Mobley on the Clippers.
