The Oregon liberals are not really liberal. Pretty apparent in this new Bill in Salem. Making it illegal to possess a container designed for alcohol on beaches in Oregon. I am not much of a drinker, probably down only a few a year, but I like to have a few onboard to offer those that do like a beer. Trouble is, where is it illegal if this law passes? If the boat is anchored near the beach, is it illegal to have a beer onboard? If your fishing off the beach on Sauvie Island or surf fishing off Cannon beach, bottled water only? So we come to this point, weed ok, Miller Lite, no. You guys need to reevaluate this progressive agenda! HB 3441 Creates crime of unlawful possession of prohibited container on public beach. Punishes by maximum of 30 days’ imprisonment, $1,250 fine, or both. A BILL FOR AN ACT Relating to prohibited activities on public beaches; creating new provisions; and amending ORS 161.005. Be It Enacted by the People of the State of Oregon: SECTION 1. (1) A person commits the crime of unlawful possession of a prohibited container on a public beach if the person knowingly does any of the following on a public beach in this state: (a) Possesses or discards an alcohol container or any glass bottle designed to contain a drink or beverage. (b) Possesses or consumes an alcoholic beverage. (2) Unlawful possession of a prohibited container on a public beach is a Class C misdemeanor. (3) As used in this section: (a) “Alcohol container” means a glass bottle, can or any other receptacle containing or designed to contain an alcoholic beverage. (b) “Alcoholic beverage” has the meaning given that term in ORS 471.001. https://olis.leg.state.or.us/liz/2017R1/Downloads/MeasureDocument/HB3441/Introduced
No, this power was granted to the States by the 10th amendment. I would say we are condemned to be ruled by fools if we can't agree we should not have people like this making the rules.
A few notes to the Reps would not hurt in making sure your thoughts are correct. A lot of supporters; Sponsored by Representative SOLLMAN; Representatives BARNHART, GREENLICK, KENY-GUYER, LIVELY, MALSTROM, MCLAIN, PILUSO, VIAL, Senator HASS
No big deal. After the electricity generating wave buoys are anchored off the coast. (or is it windmills now?) All of the beaches and huge areas of ocean around the buoys will be closed to the public for safety and security reasons. No one except the power company employees will be affected by the ban to possess alcohol on the beach.
Ha! I think you were intending to encourage. I'll save your grade, I don't want to disparage a noble effort.
I am not at all sure of what they want to accomplish. They sure made it difficult to tell what is illegal. Like how close to the beach? Seems like someone might not be happy with the recent doubling of the return deposit. So they went fucking nuts. It it just beach? Or does Rocky shore line count too?
I don't know? "(a) “Alcohol container” means a glass bottle, can or any other receptacle containing or designed to contain an alcoholic beverage."
My biggest issue with any cans on the beach is people leave them laying around for others to pick up.(not only young kids leave shit laying around, I've seen people in Marazul's generation be just as disrespectful of the land) The ocean garbage is already enough, instead of dealing with the cans that people leave on the beach, or throw off their boat in the ocean. Perhaps maybe these men should deal with the garbage is already in the ocean.
You'll just have to use needles and inject vodka into oranges like all chronic alcoholics do when they travel
It's not legal to use pot in most public places .....it used to be the plastic rings on 6 packs of beer that could really mess with aquatic life...there's usually a reason for that but I'm against laws saying you can't have beer at the beach or on your boat....I don't see how it'll possibly pass into law ...stupid to make a law that people are going to break immediately anyway....jails are crowded enough...I have no problem charging people for littering though...I hate that shit
I don't think of beaches as public places. Do you? We have some down here where you won't find another person, beaches 20 miles long. You might find a few on the beaches in Bandon, and a few more later in the summer, but south of town there is miles of empty beach. North too.
