You realize that this fierce response actually supports the suggestion that he might be overrated, right?

No I don't. I didn't label him as the best Blazer of all time or whatever. Overrated why? I just mentioned some facts. He was a top20 player in the league in the first 4 seasons he played. Wasn't he?

The fact that you think him as overrated should put him on the underrated thread. Same career PER with Dame btw (and I don't say they have same value) with one season semi-done due to his knees.

Roy was arguably the second or third best shooting guard in the league at that time. He regularly cook the shit out of Kobe Bryant.

I'm gonna get Flack for this but I don't care. This forum overrates the SHIT out of Joel Przybilla.

I'd like to hear how you think the forum overrates him.

I will state that he was a pretty elite rebounder and shot blocker. Over his Portland career, he had a career TRB% of 19.7% and BLK% of 5.4%. This decade, there have been precisely 8 individual seasons put up that beat that, and he did that over 6+ seasons.

I don't think anybody "rates" Przybilla as good at anything else other than those two aspects of the game, but it's pretty tough to overrate him in those aspects.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
Oh wow, I was going to nominate Przybilla too.

I liked the guy, but his reputation and regard in the fanbase far outstrips his actual ability and impact.

    For 321 games.

Not nearly enough to be the golden boy so many make him out to be

Joel was a great rebounder and shot blocker. He also played 101 more games for Portland than Roy did

B-Roy was amazing. His offensive talent was unmatched. He didn't lead us far into the playoffs and the injuries certainly derailed his career but when he was healthy he was amazing, maybe the best offensive player I remember since becoming a Blazer fan in the mid-90's

These two posts perfectly encapsulate the B-Roy debate. If you look at per-game contribution during his time hear, he was one of the top 5 Blazers in the history of the franchise. If you look at total contribution for the entire career, irrespective of length, I don't think he cracks the top 10. (Drexler, Walton, Porter, Kersey, Lucas, Lillard, Sabas, Williams, Aldridge, Sheed are all ahead of him IMO, as would be some others. But not Przybilla...)

    Aldridge by a WIIIIIIIDE margin.
Travis Outlaw is on the list somewhere, along with Gerald Wallace, Abdur-Rahim, and Aminu.
