Re: Shaq Calls Nash's MVPs 'Tainted' I dont think Nash's MVP's have been "tainted", but I think it will be ridiculous if he gets 3 in a row. While he has been injured this year, you can tell a noticable differece with Phoenix's record, but I still think you cant give it to him. I just think that a player doenst deserve to get it that many years in a row, after they keep going in to the playoffs with one of the best couple teams, and lose both times. He is a great player, and IMO, easily the best pg in the league, I just dont want him to get 3 in a row.
Re: Shaq Calls Nash's MVPs 'Tainted' Shaq had always been a selfish person after he left L.A espicially when the whole trade happened.

I could see you saying that you don't want him to win MVP because Dirk deserves it, but bringing other years and the playoffs into the equation is stupid. It is based solely on the 06-07 regular season and nothing else
Re: Shaq Calls Nash's MVPs 'Tainted' Saying something funny to the media is one thing, but now he's just being an ass. He can't let his play do the talking anymore, so he goes and talks sh*t about superior players. He doesn't say the like 10 years or even 5, but he narrows it down to the sole years that Nash won it. Work on getting to .500 first.

Re: Shaq Calls Nash's MVPs 'Tainted' Ugh, Shaq. What can you do? I'm not even effected by this because I'm just so used to it. We just kind of expect Shaq to say this stuff. In my opinion, he deserves it at this point. Just because you don't want him to get the award, doesn't mean he isn't deserving.
Re: Shaq Calls Nash's MVPs 'Tainted' You guys are being bi*ches about it. Everyone knows Shaq is a jacka$$, and this is one of the many stupid things to come from his mouth. But if he wants to say it, let him. Players talk sh*t about other players all the time, it's part of the game. These are the things that cause rivalries, which all of you guys want. Yet when someone says something negative about another player, you call it "mean" and uncalled for. Make up your damn minds.

However, it was a little different back then. The rules weren't the same as they are now. Rivalries are basically unable to happen nowadays. We've had plenty of topics on that in the past, and I'm sure we all know what we think about it, but I'm just saying. In 2002 (ala Lakers/Kings rivalry), there was a LOT more emotion in the game and they got away with some physical things on the court. Now, it's just 1-on-1 firing back at each other in the papers and that's basically it.
Re: Shaq Calls Nash's MVPs 'Tainted' All we need now is for Shaq to call Dwight Howard and the Magic a bunch of pussies and it's on.

Look at the rivalries topic to see my full stance on this.My thing is that everyone is so emotional about Shaq saying these things, yet at the same time they want to see fights and rivalries more often. While I highly doubt a Shaq/Nash or heat/Suns rivalry will come about from these comments, these are the kinds of things that help make a rivalry exciting.

I just wish they would have kept the physical nature of the game. The NBA would be much better, like it was before.

The physicality and trash talking certainly helps to make it more exciting, but the bas eof the rivalry has to do with those other factors. It's what amde Lakers/Celtics and Bulls/Pistons so great (and for NFL, Patriots/Colts).
Re: Shaq Calls Nash's MVPs 'Tainted' Marc Stein<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>I would love to be able to tell you what Shaquille O'Neal meant Thursday night when he said that the MVP voting has been "tainted" for the "last couple years."But I can't.Attempts by the media pack at O'Neal's locker to get him to expound were rebuffed. And while it might seem like an obvious shot at Steve Nash, that contradicts the conversation I had with Shaq before the game. When he asked who I projected to win the MVP award, O'Neal reacted with disbelief when I told him Dirk Nowitzki was leading the race with a third of the season to go."Over Nash?" Shaq asked . . . and in a disapproving way, not sarcastically.</div>eh...
Re: Shaq Calls Nash's MVPs 'Tainted' It's funny because guys that are on failing teams are always the ones talking sh*t. It's like they're grasping at straws.Let Wade focus on his smack talk while he's recuperating...and Dirk is focusing on the Championship.Let Shaq try not to let his team embarrasingly spiral into the abyss of the NBA while Nash focuses on the Championship.I don't mind that they do it, but they better back it up
