That first scene in the trailer reminded me of when Luke was training with Yoda and was sent into the cave to face his fear.
Luke: "I only know one truth. It's time for the Jedi to end." Just a down and out Luke spouting words in his depressive state, or does this mean something on a larger level?
I never thought of it that way, that could be something he's saying as she's trying to get him to teach her. If thats the case, that changes how I view the trailer.
I have a feeling the time for the Jedi to end line will be of the first things said in episode VIII, then Luke will be swayed by Rey to think otherwise. Apparently Luke is the last Jedi, but he won't be the last because Rey will become one, or we she be the first of a new breed of heroes...nah
Also, are we sure that is Luke saying that? It doesn't exactly sound like him. I watched the trailer again (after I worked, etc) and I like it better then watching it again.
You beat me too it. The voice sounds different then the other one during the training scene...could it be kylo ren
I think it is Luke. I like the idea of the balance, that it's not strictly about the light or darkness but the middleground. Maybe we will see Rey become a new form of Jedi who exhibits this frame of thought. Another thing, Kylo Rens helmet is laying on the ground destroyed. Did he do it, merely throwing another of his baby fits, or maybe he is replacing it with a more Vader like mask(will be change his name again to darth?), a different costume all together, or he just wants to show his scarred face and evil eyes...or may Rey destroys it, if so damn, must be a hell of a fight....if they fight at all in this movie...perhaps there will be a luke/ren fight or a luke/snoke fight as the main show, then a kylo/Rey fight next movie.
Also, think of the lines/scenes in the trailers for FA and RO, both of them had words and scenes that were not necessarily true for the movie.
Rogue One is my favorite Star Wars movie and I've been alive for all 8 of them. The best part though was the space scenes on IMAX3D. I was crying, it was so real. Unbelievable. Helps too that it was here in NYC where they have the biggest IMAX screen I've ever seen.
She'll become one of the X-Men, as it turns out that Star Wars is part of the Marvel cinematic universe, in Disney's grand plan. Phase 2.5.
For there to be balance in the force, there needs to be no fighting. No Jedi, no Sith. Neither side can rise up, otherwise you get this pendulum effect that just gets worse and worse. In a meta-as-narrative sense, you could say the reason all the movies echo each other is because each time, the force is trying to get a do-over, to get it right. Luke gets it. Entropy is the only solution. Balance out of nothingness.
I hope episode 9 ends up with Rey and Kylo ruling the galaxy as Sith Lords, talk about a twist that M. night would approve of.
