The thread says it all. I'll go into discussion later why I think he isn't and who is better than him.
EASILY the best player in the league. Here is why:-Scoring: Easily the best score rin the league. He showed exactly why last year. Double, triple, quadruple team him, he can score. He is the best scorer because he is a GREAT jumpshooter, very good at slashing, and has some of the best footwork in the league along with great athleticism to basically get open no matter how he wants. he can hit some of the most ridiculous shots you'll ever see. He can post up as well. Overall, no one in the league is as overall talented scoring the ball as Kobe Bryant.-Clutch Ability: The most clutch player in the league. Not only is he one of the most dependable to hit the last shot and make last play, but he can also shutdown the opposing superstar in the 4th if need be (as seen this year with Wade and in 02-04 vs T-mac). He has, time and time again, taken over 4th quarters and totally carried his team to victory.-Leadership: For a LONG time I was a person who questioned Kobe's leadership. He was always controversial in LA, and he had a reputation of being too quiet and anti-social. In last 2 years he has transformed this image. He is now a great person on and off the court, will have dinner and drinks with other players, is vocal on and off the court, and you can always see him encouraging and helping out others. He led a crap team with no flow offensively or defensively to a near upset vs the Suns (Yeah yeah, they lost, but looks at his game 6...he was not the reaosn they lsot that series). This year, without Odom he kept team well above .500 and he will likely lead that injury filled team to a 6th seed in the tough West.-Playmaking: Not the best playmaker in the world, but it has greatly improved. He can get people open shots, can make the fancy pass, and makes the necassary pass. Now, more than ever, he is willing to take over this role.-Defense: Much better defender than the likes of Wade, T-Mac, AI, Bron, Nash, Dirk, Melo, etc.... While he doesn't show his ability to its highest peak every night during regular season, he still has that ability to lockdown a superstar when need be (mostly in the 4th quarter). Even when he is playing defense half-assed he is still better than those other players.Intangibles: The guy has 3 rings and tons and tons of other accomplishments like scoring champ, all star game MVP, robbed of last year's MVP, etc...
Kobe Bryant is the MOST TALENTED player in the NBA. But in my opinion he is NOT the best player in the NBA. Steve Nash deserves that honor because of how he makes everyone on the floor better and contributes so much to his team in terms of winning. But Kobe is the most talented player in the NBA.

The offense that Nash is allows him to flourish. Now I will say, he does a great job using the weapons that he has, but if you put another good pass first pg on that team, and they still have a great team.Kobe is definaltey the best player in the league. Not only CAN he do it all, but he DOES do it all. Im sure guys like Wade and Lebron could play better on the defensive end, but they dont. And then you look at Kobe, and not only is the most offensivley talented player in the league, but he is also a first team all nba defensive player. He is one of the best shooters in the game, he can get to the basket and finish above the rim, he is a brilliant passer, and he is a pretty good rebounder as well. He is just on a different level than anybody else in the game. You take Wade, and Kobe does everything better than him excpet for maybe passing (maybe), and going to the hole. He is pretty much better than Lebron at everything except for rebounding....He is easily the best player in the league. No doubt about it in my mind.

The interviews after the whole "rape situation" (not even going to go there) he tries acting like a true thug. Then, when he elbowed Ginobelli to the face, he acts like such a liar, just come out and be humble and say what you did was wrong. I mean, don't just say "im jus playin the game dawg!" thats so stupid, because obviously you weren't and that was a really cheap elbow. And, IMO, from what I've seen of both players, Wade is easily better or at least as good as Kobe defensively...and clutchness, I dont know, wade was REALLL clutch alot of times last playoffs...

I'm not trying to be a homer here but Dirk is the best player in the league and the stats prove it. Dirk is shooting 50.3% from the field, 42% from 3 point range, and 903.% from the line while scoring 25.4 points per game. That is incredible efficiency right there. Add 9.5 rebounds a game and his improved defense and you got MVP written all over it. Dirk also has the highest +/- in all of the nba with +18.3. Dirk could easily score more points but he chooses to get teammates involved and playing in the flow. Kobe is a great player but his biggest weakness is him standing around when he doesn't have the ball. Also he loses track of his defenders sometimes on defense. He doesn't have as much speed as Wade and doesn't have the height advantage Dirk has. It is harder for him to shoot high quality shots than it is for Dirk and that is why Dirk has always shot better than Kobe.

I'm, giving you a warning from personal experience. DO NOT hate Kobe on this site. You're only asking for a suspension. I'm not saying you can't hate him in real life, but on BBW do not hate Kobe, don't focus on his personality but instead his game. That helps you be a little more fair to him.

I'll bet the Heat don't make the playoffs. That is how valuable Wade is to the Heat.
Kobe bryant has not been the best player in the league this season. The thing that seperated him from other wannabe superstars was his defense. Because of his lack of conditioning and him having way too many responsibilities (playmaker, clutch play, best post up player, scoring) his defense has suffered. His inability to stop shooters is quite annoying. I'm sure once the team is healthy, we'll see go back to playing consistent d.
Also, Wade is a horrible defender himself. He can't guard a statue. Off the ball defense doesn't make you a good defender.
For those who say Wade is better than Kobe need to watch this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Tlx2zR-BZ4lol

You fail to mention that Kobe Bryant is one of the better perimeter defenders in the game while Nash can't guard a rocking chair stuck in mud. No. It's true he won quite a lot a while ago, but he was not the clear best player on his team (Shaq was just as good, probably better at the time). Kobe is the most talented player, but not the best or most valuable.
[quote name='mavsfan1000' post='296869' date='Feb 24 2007, 11:25 PM']I'm not trying to be a homer here but Dirk is the best player in the league and the stats prove it. Take a look at the Finals for proof. Stats don't show that he is rarely doubled due to the fantastic teammates he has (same with Nash). You act like 9.5RPG is impressive...it's not for a 7ft PF/C. He may have improved his defense, but he is far from an above average defender. If he has crappier teammates and was forced to carry his team, out goes the 50%+ shooting and 40%+ 3pt shooting. LoL, standing around when he doesn't have the ball is the biggest weakness you can find? Well, I guess being the best offensive player in the league, it is hard to find any weaknesses. He doesn't lose track of players he is defending, but due to various injuries he hasn't been as quick to get around picks and such. He is still a much better defender than Dirk. And Wade doesn't have half the jumpshot Kobe does, isn't the defender or leader Kobe is, and isn't the leaper Kobe is. Dirk is not as fast or athletic as Kobe is, nor is he the defender or playmaker Kobe is.I can go on and on about what Kobe does better than other players, but I won't. Bottom line is stats tell half the story, and look at when Wade plays a player that can cut off his driving (Kirk Hinrich/Kobe a few weeks ago), or when Dirk plays a player that is long enough and tall enough to get into his face on jumpshots (Udonis Haslem, T-Mac). Kobe doesn't have these chinks in his armor when it comes to scoring the ball. he can score on anyone, any defense, any time.
Lol at you mentioning Udonis Haslem and T-Mac. T-Mac guarded Dirk for 1 or 2 possessions. Last time Haslem guarded Dirk he had no answer for him. Dirk stops himself as he occassionally goes in slumps but this year he hasn't had that problem as he gets better every year.
Did you guys see the skills competition? Kobe couldn't make that pass because it was the first pass he ever tried to make in his life
