That's a nice gesture, true... what he (he's more of a giver) does w/ whom in his personal life is up to him, let's keep it to on court stuff
Meyers really does care about your health. He helps you each, individually, with a personal workout each game he plays. Note the involuntary side-to-side movement of your head, and the rising of the palm to the forehead as he is announced to enter the game.
If I had a daughter, Leonard would be fine son-in-law material. I just wouldn't want him to teach my grandchildren basketball. Fishing would be fine.
I've heard this before, even from Meyers himself when he got upset over some tweet. I no joke would pay to see him play one on one with all his "haters." I know I wouldn't be scared to play him.
I would just play in the paint on offense and defense. He'd never come in on offense and would jump backwards every time on defense. And I know I could finish my taxes and then remember to contest his shot anyway, so I have no worries.
i bet you if he played one on one against one of us his game wouldn't change. He would still settle for jumpers.
He played some outstanding defense against Marc Gasol two seasons ago in the playoffs. I mean he was really, really fucking good. Straight up man defense and really held his own. Put him in a league where big lumbering centers need to be defended in the post with one man, and he'd be a-ok. You could slot him in for 20 minutes a night and not worry, and even start him if you had rebounding at your PF position. I think he was just born in the wrong era. If it were 1998, he never would've taken a three pointer and he'd be 6 hard fouls on Shaq and we'd all love him because he could make the occasional free throw or nice pass, unlike Chris Dudley. Chris Dudley made it 15 years in the NBA doing his thing, and Meyers has a lot more tools to work with. Take a time machine and swap him for Damon Stoudamire and we'd all be a lot happier. The Mouse could be Napier on steroids, and who gives a fuck about his shitty defense or attitude. Damon was meant to play in 2017. Meyers wasn't.
Golden Future believers have lived off of that for years. For a game or two, the coach didn't take his outside game into account. His whole reputation rests upon that. Then an adjustment fixed it.
We might as well be doing jumping jacks or the YMCA dance as many times as we raise our hands in the air responding to his play. Thanks for the workout Meyers!
