"Everybody is getting frustrated and down on themselves," said Kendrick Perkins. "I think a lot of guys are frustrated for a whole lot of different reasons and that could affect their play. It could be anything -- a person not playing to a person not getting touches. It can carry on to the team. You never know what's going through somebody's head."I don't want to say that [players have their own agendas]. There's adversity and it's kind of hard to not stray away. To stick with the team shows the kind of person you are. That's what I try to keep emphasizing. You can see people are mad about certain things. If you don't have a clear mind going on to the basketball court, you can't play your best basketball.""To me, Al [Jefferson] should play every night, Paul should play, and then Delonte [West]," said Rivers. "Other than that, everybody else plays only if they play hard. I accept that they're going to make mistakes. I can live with those. Effort has to be the No. 1 quality to stay on the floor.""I'm admitting to being fatigued," said Pierce. "I only have like three practices under my belt for the whole last two months. It was five days off for All-Star break and I jumped right into four games in five nights. I really still don't have my legs under me. I still don't have the lift that I get. I'm still trying to get that back."http://www.boston.com/sports/basketball/ce...nd_the_answers/I don't get why Doc is playing favorites...Delonte West doesn't deserve to play 40+ minutes a night..he isn't at that level yet where he's the #1 or #2 option like Paul and Al..and I think what Perk says reflects on Doc's inability to coach and get players in the game when they deserve minutes as well as not trying to make it a point to get players the ball when they have the hot hand
There is only one thing I really don't like from those comments, and that was Perk saying that some guys are frustrated about the amount of touches they are getting. You never want to have a young team with guys that are crying about their touches. The only guys who really should get a lot of shots up every night are exactly who Doc stated - Paul, Al, and Delonte. Now, Delonte should be getting them at the 2-guard spot, but he still deserves the shots and playing time. I wonder who could be complaining about touches, though. Gomes or Scal wouldn't, Delonte is getting them, Paul is obviously getting them. Al is getting them on most nights, although I could understand some frustration since the team doesn't get him 12-15 shots every single night, which he obviously should be getting, but I still don't think it's to the point where he'd be complaining about it. I don't know what to tell ya... But a guy who probably hasn't said a word and should be frustrated, is Gerald Green. The kid can score 16 points in 11 minutes and still get benched. No matter what the kid does, it's like Doc looks for reasons to sit him down. I'm dead serious when I say that as well. So if a fan from another team sees this post and says "Oh, come on, CB32. He doesn't look for reasons to bench Green." I'm telling ya.. he does.
