Here's something sort of interesting on Miller's age. He's only about 5 months younger than Avery. Reggie was born in August of 65 and Avery was in March of 65. They are both going to be 42 this year.
I would love to see Miller come back to the game. When he retired, he was still a good player, and I think that he could still somewhat contribute to a team. He is still in pretty decent shape, and I bet he could still shoot the ball as well. If anything, he could just go to Dallas, provide leadership, and get a ring. Dallas is the front runner right now to win it all IMO, and I would like to see him get one.

He stuck with Indiana for all of his career and gave them everything that he had. If I was him, I would want to win a championship too, and if you were a true fan to him, you would want to see him win one as well. He put his heart and soul in to every game for Indiana, and he couldnt get a ring out of it. If he went to Dallas, I think he would finally get one, and even though its not how he would have wanted to win one, it will still be well deserved.
This is one instance where I agree with PFF, Pacer fans don't seem to be enamored if Reggie decides to come out for a chance to get a ring. As they say it would go against what Reggie has stated. Many seem to think this is just to latch on for a ring, something Reggie has said he wouldn't trade in for his time spent in Indiana. There's a sentimatality attached with that and I see why PFF is a little upset. But there are some fans who are happy if Reggie does get a ring, despite being in a different uniform.
If Reggie Miller does do this it is basically a slap in the face of the Pacers' organization. I understand that he wants a ring..I get that but he already retired and shouldn't just jump on the bandwagon and away from TNT broadcasting like that.
Its not like Reggie left the pacers earlier in his career to go get a ring. He did all that he could do with the organization. Can you really blame him for wanting to get a championship?
YES, I CAN BLAME HIM, I WANT HIM TO REMAIN A PACER FOREVER. I DON'T WANT TO SEE HIM IN ANOTHER JERSEY. I SERIOUSLY MIGHT GO CRAZY. THIS IS A GUY THAT REPRESENTED OUR FRANCHISE AND STOOD AS A MAN AMONG BOYS. HE SINGLE-HANDLEY LED THE PACERS. I FEEL THAT IF HE WERE TO LEAVE US HE WOULD BE SHATTERING ALL THE HONOR AND DIGNITY HE HAD IN INDIANA.
He had his time in Indy and he's loved by everyone there. He'll always be remembered as a Pacer and all the great things he did there. If he wants to give it one more year to try to get that ring than good for him.. Thats what it's all about getting that championship..

It would just feel wrong if he won a championship not wearing gold and blue

I dont think he would sign with any team just for a ring. I think Reggie's the kind of guy that would only want a ring if he actaully contributed to the team. If we didnt play but garbage minutes on the team, I dont think he would want it. I think he has to know that he is getting at least a good amount of minutes to come back. Not because Reggie is selfish or anything, but because he doesn't want an astrick next to his championship ring. He wants to be needed on a championship team, not just there for the ride. Know what I mean?
agreed - reggie has too much pride for that!

I would have been the happiest person in the world if AI had won one here. I really wish he had an opportunity to do so. But hes my favorite player, and the most important thing is for him to get a championship. And even though its not with my favorite team I can still feel satisfied that he did it anyway. But anyway, I can still see Reggie doing a little damage in this league. He was tearing it up towards the end of the 05' season, and it has only been two years since then. And Im sure hes still been stying in shape. The Mavs could really use his help if he comes aboard. They'll be invincible if he played like he did in his last season.
Why is everybody assuming that Reggie wants to come back and play for the Mavericks for the chance at winning a ring? This was just a quote from Cuban... Reggie has not publicly expressed his opinion on the matter one way or the other... at least not to my knowledge.I doubt he joins them though. It's just something that Cuban brought up, and due to the name involved the media is going to go overboard with it. I just cannot see Reggie Miller playing for a team other than the Pacers.
I told my brother a couple of weeks ago that Reggie Miller can still play basketball. All he really has to do is wait for someone to pass him the ball so he can hit a jumper. My brother didn't say anything. When I read him this article aloud, he acted as though he's the one who told me about Reggie Miller still being able to play ball.
Man they are already good enough and he would make their team even better with another long range shooter like a Jason Terry but even better. The Mavericks look like they are going to win it all this year and this is just what Reggie needs, a championship.

In addition, he would not "chase a ring." If he were to accept the Mavs invitation, he goes back on his word and Pacer fans have a right to feel upset.
I don't see how it's honerable at all to come back for a month or two after retirement, just to get a ring, riding the back of the obvious favorite to win the title. Reggie had a great a career with or without a ring. I'm sick of this ring-obsession going around - sure, it's what everybody hopes for, but lots of players are true champions, even if their team didn't win a ring. Carl Malone, Charles Barkley - they'rechampions in my book. I mean, Robert Horry has, what, like four rings? Simply because he's been with the right teams. Sure, he had some clutch threes, but LAL and SAS would have won their championships witout him.
