Damn, how bad is this for him? http://www.businessinsider.com/steve-kerr-may-not-coach-rest-of-playoffs-2017-4
It's funny. You can screw up so much of your body. But once your spine is compromised.... your fucked. It is just so complex. I hope he takes all the time he needs to get better.
I hope everyone notices that his pain is complication from his surgery; Kerr advises everyone to never have back surgery. I myself would also advise people to think twice before having knee replacement; I know some people who had serious complications (one ended up dying from the complications) and also know many who still have bad pain after the replacement.
Yeah, physical therapy should nearly always be your first resort. I'd only consider surgery if my back or knee was deeply painful all the time and physical therapy had little to no effect.
This sounds brutal : https://sports.yahoo.com/news/steve-kerrs-suffering-hard-watch-harder-live-055119678.html
Having battled back issues for several years now and knowing several others who have resorted to surgery, it literally should be a last resort. The success rate is so so low and the frequency of further complications is actually higher than the success rate. I personally haven't had surgery but just go for PT.
Having carried all those Chicago and San Antonio teams on his back, it's no surprise he's in this much pain.
Kerr was infuriatingly good as a role player. He's a really great and gracious head coach. I'm actually really sad he's in this situation, even when he's the enemy!
In all seriousness, he is a great guy. Super nice. I wish him nothing but the best. Very easy to root for
