Ha. You thought you'd click on this and see me mocking people......Nope I don't seem to have the ability to blindly root for something. I see flaws. I see weaknesses. I see the negative. Even with my kids, I've never been one of those parents who thinks their kid is the best. Obviously, my opinions here are exaggerated for my enjoyment, and I'm not close to this negative in reality. Most of you though see the team with Rose Quarter colored glasses on, and not only do I envy you for that, you should all be commended for continuing to make Portland one of the best fan bases in sports. We in this amazing forum that Denny has created and the mods keep rolling are all passionate, and all want the team to win a title. Congrats on the ability to see through the garbage and always seem to find the Blazer rainbow
See the poll results in the first game thread of the series. Delusional is a better word. I read thread after thread about how bad everyone on the team except Dame, CJ and Nurk is and 3 people voted for a Blazers sweep. If Nurk didn't get hurt they had a chance not to get embarrassed or maybe even win a couple of games. He did and that was the end of it.
I will never understand how Portland fans can be so fucking delusional when it comes to sports. I am hearing from my friends on Facebook, "We've been to the playoffs 4 straight years! Neil hurt himself but the Nurkic trade more than made up for that." ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME? Is there a sunspot that affects this area or a lower pressure system that causes not enough oxygen to get to their brains. I want us to get three good players and makes some trades, but to act like this season everything was on the up and up.... You gotta be LOONEY!
It's Blazermania. It all started when the Blazers made their first-ever playoffs and in Cinderella-like fashion won four straight games against the beast 76'ers to miraculously win it all. Since that day the Blazer fanaticsism has never wained. Portland is Rip City!
I've been a Blazer fan for my entire life. I'm well aware of what Rip City is. But the league has changed since '77. I love the team but always keep one eye on what's going on in the NBA in general. Funny. Both the Trail Blazers and the NASL Timbers made the finals in their respective leagues that year. It obviously was a very good year.
Nice post MM. Especially on a night when tempers are high and little things can be blown up into something big. At the end of the day we are, almost, all here to root for the Blazers and want the end result that ends up on the court to win. We have differing opinions and if everyone here felt the same then this forum wouldn't be any fun to post or to read.
