I think we can get PG to stay if two things happen. One is we are a top 4 seed, two is that we win over 50 games and are within a hairs breath of top 3. He has said many times that he wants to win so if we give him a great ability to win I think that and the 5th year would make him stay.

    Neil goes all in

    No idea about salaries matching.....

CJ and Harkless for Paul George

Three 1sts Crabbe and Vonleh for Jimmy Butler

Use one of your exceptions to grab a PF and one to grab a solid backup center

We probably wouldnt win shit because we'd have 4 guys that like the ball, but wed be the bell of the offseason ball.

Any trade would have to be after July 1. That is when CJ's contract goes up (the PPP goes away) and is more workable in a trade. Indy might not have a lot of leverage. If George tells them he is going to go, taking back a younger scoring machine with 4 years left on his contract might look pretty attractive. And from Nate McMillan's standpoint, think of the massive ISO plays he could run with CJ. It would be coaching nirvana for him.

It would also help Portland from a Cap standpoint as George will save a couple of million against the cap, be much more versatile as a player, bring better wing defense and provide much better overall lineup balance.

That said, I would want some type of extension and if that wasn't possible, one of those handshake agreements that a deal would get done.

BTW, speaking of handshake agreements, PG shares the same agent as Meyers and AC.

Then his agent DEFINITELY owes us for signing those 2 to $27 million dollars worth of contracts. Damn, does he owe us. Besides, it would seem like Mr. Allen would like guys names 'Paul'.

Three first rounders, a future first, and Allen Crabbe (and/or Harkless) should be enough. I base this estimation off the potential offers the Pacers will receive.

Realistically, the Pacers are not likely to to receive many good offers. The Lakers won't need to trade assets if Paul George will simply bolt Indiana for LA next summer. And very few teams have the assets to pull off a trade to the Pacers while being able to retain talent to warrant contention. Thus, if you're Larry Bird, you'll only get offers like OKC's first rounder and Oladipo or Clipper's first rounder and Rivers.

The only threat in this situation is if Boston gets knocked out of the Top 3 and ends up being uncertain with the 4th pick.

Otherwise, with CJ+Dame+Nurkic, I don't see PG leaving since he's stated numerous times that he wants to win, first and foremost. He's also from the West Coast so he wouldn't be as homesick. Meanwhile, if I'm correct here, the Blazers would have both PG13 and Nurkic's bird rights allowing for a Big 4.

Essentially, the Blazers were playing near a 60 win pace with Nurkic on the court (about 25% of season). With PG added to the mix, it's not unlikely to see a 60 win team next season.

You have to shed either Crabbe or Turners salaries in an Indy trade...I actually try to keep Vonleh but move Leonard, Connaughton, Harkless any bench player in a deal that includes Turner or Crabbe....if possible keep a couple first round picks to shore up the bench. ...Dame, CJ, George, Vonleh and Nurk....that's a core....

    All in? Here you go...

Wonder how many picks it would take to make this happen...

    Hello darkness, my old friend
I think we should save all that sweet trade ammunition for Kawhi Leonard and possibly LeBron James. ;) I think Meyers, Connaughton, Harkless, one draft pick, any bench player and either Crabbe or Turner can get you more than just one star. That's a lot of dudes we're trading.

I mean, Dame, CJ, Kawhi, LeBron and Nurk is an even better core!

It would be so much fun to trade for him and then have him walk to the Lakers after the season.

See, that's why you make my deal. That way, we can be abandoned by a different superstar each year for the next 5 summers. George in 2018, Anthony 2019, Butler 2020, Dame 2021, and Nurkic in 2022. Would be super-duper fun!!

Indeed. You only make a deal for George, in my opinion, if he's willing to sign an extension. Otherwise, it's not worth the risk.

He can. If he makes one of the All-NBA teams, the Pacers could offer him a designated player deal that no other team can match. I'm not sure if the right to offer such a deal transfers in a trade, but I don't know of any reason that he can't sign a normal extension post-trade.
