What good players come to mind when someone mentions poor fundamentals? They don't rebound right, box out, or shoot a good jumpshot right. Melo posted something saying Wade's jumper is fundamentally weak so I would like to see who else comes to mind.
Hmmm....Bron is pretty fundementally weak. His jumpshot is horrible in terms of form, he tries to make pass look fancier than need be, and most of what he does is with raw athleticism. Eddy Curry is fundementally weak. Basically a poor man's version of Shaq without the good footwork.
jim peterson said KG doesn't even box out when hes waiting for the rebound, he just knows where to be when the ball is coming off the rim and he is pretty much bigger and more athletic than a lot of players so he can just get them that way. I am in no way saying he has bad fundementals, just and observation by jim peterson
Josh Childress and Shawn Marion obviously have the two most unorthodox jumpers in the NBA today. They both kind of like... fling them from their chests. I think it's stupid and goofy looking, but whatever works, right?

His jumper does look odd, but he sqaures off completely when he is going for a shot, he goes up with two hands for a board, and making a pass fancier than need be is not bad fundamentals, its just cockiness, which we can live with when it comes to Lebron. He has excellent post moves and airtime, and is a decent at stealing the ball as well. Like Wade, Ive seen him slip once on that pivot foot, but I think its because he is going at such an accerlated speed, everything just looks uniform, and it doesn't look like a travel.

It is NOT a pretty jumpshot, and not funementally sound. Making a pass fancier than need be is not being fundementally sound, although it is effective for him. What bron does is very effective and somewhat pretty to look at, but not fundementally sound. When did I bring up him travelling?
It is really hard to say just a few players that have weak fundamentals, because when it comes right down to it, there are only a couple players in the league that have good fundamentals. Most players dont box out on a regular basis, most players dont always use the right dribbling tactics, and most players dont use the right footwork. So many players get away with being unfundemental, and the refs are just letting it happen. All point guards these days carry the basketball, and it bothers the hell out of me. You have to look at guys like Bruce Bowen and Tim Duncan to find good fundamentals in todays game. But if I was to choose a guy with very weak fundamentals, it would have to be a guy like Lebron.

Only a few players, like Duncan as you said have perfected fundamentals which is why they are so good.
