What the fuck is with the weather in this city? And the weather stations too! Portland has to be the only place that issues a severe storm warning for itself....and never gets a thunderstorm. http://www.kgw.com/weather Look at the fucking radar! Everyone else has a thunderstorm brewing right now......except us. It's literally a giant circle of storms at least 20 miles or more away from the Portland/Vancouver area. Fuck that shit. Even the fucking weather hates Portland!
I love thunder and lighting, the smell of air is amazing. I just opened every window in the house, lol.
I'm hoping we get a nice thunderstorm tonight. Nothing I like better then drinking a beer on my front porch watching a thunderstorm. A thunderstorm on my Birthday would be one hell of a treat.
Sly is already ahead of the curve... Does thunderstorms fuck with arthritis? I've heard severe weather can have strange effects on those with medical conditions.
It's a Severe Weather Watch in effect for the next 6 hours. Its a lot different than a warning. A watch is regional, saying that it's possible in the time frame. A warning is county-by-county and basically means that the area will/is experiencing severe weather. EDIT: I was looking at weather.com. The KGW link did say we are under a severe thunderstorm warning, which makes no fucking sense. Haha.
Weather.com is the source to use IMO. I doubt the National Weather Service actually issued us a Severe Thunderstorm Warning. I feel like it's just KGW either fucking up and not distinguishing between "Watch" and "Warning", or they're just pretending they're the NWS and issued a warning on their own. Haha.
I actually just got home from reffing a Mac soccer game that I had to call 1/2 hour early because of the lightning. Shame, was a good game too.
If anyone wants to see the lightning in real time, I'm using a tracker map: https://www.lightningmaps.org/?lang=en#y=45.8433;x=-122.3149;z=8;t=4;m=sat;r=1;s=201;o=1;b=0.00;n=0;d=9;dl=9;dc=0;dn=1;ra=0;i=1; I don't know if that map will work for you directly. You may have to play around with it. The Dalles are really getting lit up right now.
We just had a tornado warning for here and Crater Lake for like a half an hour before it got rescinded and turned into a severe thunderstorm warning. Pretty bizarre.
