Makes me remember how much I liked watching Matthews play. Guy gave it all on the defensive end. Especially in that series.
You have a weird definition of "freefall". We had won 9 of 12 immediately before the Wes injury and were on a roll. Sure, we had a tough patch with some road losses in late January, but had survived that stretch and were 40-19 and on pace to win 56 games at the time of Wesley's injury. BNM
Correct. The worst part of the "freefall" stretch to which Speed refers was them goin 2-8 over their final 10 games in January, during which Lopez was out for injury. He returned at the beginning of February, as did the Blazers ability to win games. By the beginning of March, they appeared to have fully turned the "contender" corner--then Wes went down, and all hopes were dashed.
I wish I could like and unlike this post at the same time. It just reminds me of too many things. QQ. March 5th will forever be a black day for Blazer sports fans.
We were 30-8 and then bombed way before Wes went down. Yes, we won 5 games in a row but it's a small sample size. Too little too late.
In 17 games before "5 game win streak," we went 6-11. Team was falling apart WITH Wes. http://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/POR/2015_games.html
Who threw away their Batum jersey? Watching the O rebound by LMA and the result call reminds me how asinine the refs are in this league.
They show the shot at least 15 times in this one clip. I watched this clip at least 15 times and can watch it 15 more!!! Can we just focus on this for a moment and put this into perspective? Our big guy in the paint. Our shotblocker and our rebounder went down and we went 2-8. He comes back and we pick back up the killer win pace. This year. We have no big. We suck. We trade for Nurk and go 15-6 I think? He goes down and we lose momentum. MY questions is, how did we not learn our lesson from three years ago? I have been a NO supporter, but I didn't put two and two together until just now and this is a knock on him. We have first hand evidence of what a big can do and what it does to us when we don't have one. I know we thought we had an Ezeli coming back and a Leonard as a big body, but neither were proven. Davis? Too small and that's been proven. Why did it take a year and a half to nail down a solid center when soooo many were on the table in last years free agency??????? I dont like that NO wont let us know the open truth about how things went. Did he actually go after these guys and they said no? OF which then NO only takes partial blame? He knew the road to go down just couldn't take the corners worth shit? Did he not pursue these guys and if so, that's a major fail. All we have are rumors on Howard and Whiteside. Nothing concrete and NO has to know that will build distrust between him and the fans. I believe Portland values cander. Id have much more respect if it was all laid out as a plan we could see and he says I failed here but I tried this, I tried that. I would have more trust in him.
