Saw Jerry Seinfeld at the Schnitz last night. Second time I have seen him live. It's like hanging out with you best funny pal for an hour and a half. Seamless. Hysterical. This bit he did about cellphones was very clever. The only one better I have seen live is Louis CK. He literally had us holding our guts because we were laughing so hard.
Different taste in comedy I guess. I think louis ck is awful. Seinfeld is alright. I've seen Aziz Ansari and Tom Green in person. Both were great. Going to Nick Swardson at the end of this month. He might be one of the best stand up comics out there right now. His special "Taste It" was hilarious.
That bit he did about the rental car on "Seinfeld" was freaking hilarious. Some of my favorites: Tim Hawkins is seriously underrated with different voices. His impressions and accents are fucking hysterical. I had a chance to go see him here in Vancouver this month, but I passed it up. So much more that I could post when I remember them.
Louis CK is my favorite. I laugh the whole time, he's amazingly funny. Nick Swardson is also fucking Hillarious. I think the strangest act I have seen was a few years back when I went to see Chelsea Handler with the Mrs. She was so drunk she could barely come out on the stage. It took forever to get her out there, and her set was very fucking awkward. She was straight up making fun of people in the audience, and brutally. Not in a funny way. She was being demeaning to people. Then she spent an hour/ hour and a half or so talking about her dirty pussy and having sex when she was a kid. It was so fucking bizarre. I will never go see one of her shows again.
I can live with Chelsea Handler. But Amy Schumer is just a strait up fucking bitch. And she literally has one demographic for a fanbase that somehow manages to make her the most popular female comedian in the country.
Homer, I have to agree about Carlin. Before his last few years, when he became just an angry old man, he was the best.
Carlin was amazing. I can't believe his show didn't last longer. As a child, I watched that shit and it was hilarious. Always been a HUGE fan. I saw Tracy Morgan's "Picking up the Pieces" tour. Fucking awesome. I was always a big fan, but it brought it to a new level. I'd love to hang with him for even an hour.
Ansari is awesome. His comedy is great and his show is pretty great too. Swardson has been underrated for years. Been writing for Sandler and been doing standup. If you don't have his decade-old album, "Party", you're missing out. And for those that need clean comedy..... Mike Birbiglia is the best "clean comic" in today's "comedy game".
Hate to admit it, but at one time Bill Cosby was my favorite comedian. Cosby’s early work was pure genius. His airplane engine in Fat Albert’s car, and the Chinese mustard routine on a date come to mind. Too bad he jumped the tracks.
I didn't want to mention him, but....yeah, he was one of my favorites too. In fact, the first stand-up comedy that I ever actually sat down and watched was his standup "Himself", which a buddy of mine brought over on VHS. I laughed so hard I had tears flowing down my face. That comedy stuck with me for years....the skit about the dentist, his wife, his kids breakfast......dude, that was some funny shit.
I like Gabriel Iglesias because he's funny as hell but talks to you like you're a friend. Could have went to see him last month, but god damn those tickets are expensive.
