Re: Cedric Maxwell's comments <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Celtics Radio Analyst Maxwell ApologizesThursday, March 1, 2007; Page E07Celtics radio analyst Cedric Maxwell apologized on the air last night for saying that a female referee should "go back to the kitchen" after he disagreed with one of her calls.Maxwell made the comment during the Celtics' 77-72 victory over the Rockets on Monday. He subsequently said, "Go in there and make me some bacon and eggs, would you?" in reference to referee Violet Palmer."If I said anything that might have been insensitive or sexist in any way, then I apologize because she worked extremely hard to get where she is now, end of quote," Maxwell said before the Celtics' game against the Knicks on WEEI-AM, which is owned by Entercom Communications.</div>~Washington Post~I was at the game so I didn't hear this. Kind of out of line but Ced on his part but at least he apologized for it. It wasn't really that bad of a comment, it's not like he called her a slut or something. Tommy has said a lot worse things on FSN. I remember him saying Darius Miles looked like a pharoah.
Re: Cedric Maxwell's comments Haha, the comments were uncalled for, but I chuckled. He claims they were a joke, and if you have ever listened to him do games on the radio, you'd know he probably was joking. This isn't a huge deal though. He made a joke, offended someone, then apologized. No big deal, its done.

Tommy just yells at the refs and says every call is bad unless it goes our way. Cornbread made a sexist comment, and did it twice. He didn't want to apologize either, they just made him. It was wrong to say. Oh well, whatever, I don't listen to them anyway.
Re: Cedric Maxwell's comments I'm listening to WEEI right now and they're discussing the issue. I guess Cedric was doing a Tommy Heinsohn impression while he said those comments. So it was CLEARLY a joke and he meant nothing by it. Also they were saying that on Channel 7 last night (Boston area channel 7) they cut that out Cedric imitating Tommy and saying that he was joking about what Tommy would say. AND, and this is a big and, when they were bringing up the story on TV they showed a picture of Robert Parish. In my mind, that is worse than anything Maxwell said, that's pretty much saying yeah every black bald guy looks alike. Channel 7 should get fined.
