When you lose to a team with an inferior roster blowing multiple leads w inferior players on the ice the coach deserves to be fired. I'd be happier if we lost a hard fought series to the Habs due to Price dominating. Extremely disappointing series. In the end they got what they deserved.
Agree 100%. If we lost to Montreal I would feel 100 times better than I feel about losing to a team we were clearly better than. Totally got what they deserved when they couldn't close out 2 OR 5.
Time to let Hank loose. Zero cups in his era. The guy has done a lot for this organization but it's time to let Raanta then that russian kid Shesterkin take over. I dont see the point of keeping 8.5 million goalie at this point.
Not that it's needed but welcome to being a Rangers fan. Thankfully 1994 happened because outside of that I've watched the same movie since the Islanders dynasty. Kenny Morrow, John Druce, Ron Francis and this crap. It has been going on for decades.
I gotta say I really thought this was the rangers year. Falling into the 7th spot and getting out of the metro. Banged up pens team or a mental weak Washington club waiting for them. No real power houses in the west like the kings or hawks either. I watched the game tonight and it's always great to score on breakaways but if they didn't score on them it would've been 3-0. Outside of the 3rd there was no pressure or great quality chances.
They should put this team in the bronx or staten island. The players are too distracted with a nightlife in Manhattan especially the young ones.
Rangers year for what...to get to the ECF...I agree. They were always going to be a huge underdog against the Pens/Caps, especially if the Caps win game 7. So I don't agree if their year means SC. If their year means ECF...absolutely they should have made the ECF after they beat Montreal.
Anything can happen in the playoffs. Especially if you get to the final four. I wouldn't of predicted a win over the Pens or Caps but that's why you play the games. This was a wasted opportunity.
That's exactly what I meant. The rangers had their ticket punched to At the least the conference finals falling into the 7th seed. Then anything can happen.
Duguay was hypothesizing they could maybe leave Stepan unprotected for LV as they do have to get to the cap floor, but 6.5m is probably too much for them. I think Raanta or Fast get taken. I think they would've gone at least 6 with either team so it's disappointing not to see what might've happened. At least they have a 1st to maybe help in a few years. Been what seems like a decade since having one, even though it's low.
Yeah, of course anything can happen...no doubt there. But this was not "their year" if that means to win a cup. It wasn't. It was the make the ECF and be a big underdog and say hey anything can happen...no doubt. They lost to a lesser team...that's reality. But this to me wasn't an oh they blew it in "their year". I felt that way more in 2015, even though this specific series lose was a painful as the loss to TB because we were simply better than Ottawa.
Raanta, Fast, Lindberg or Grabner are the likely guys...one of them. And yeah, doubt Stepan goes (would leave him exposed though), but remember Vegas needs to add some big money guys to get to their salary floor. I would give up picks in a second to get rid of Girardi and/or Stepan to Vegas and not have to use a terrible buyout on Girardi. I think that is more of a Girardi play though. Stepan will have some value to get a good player back.
that would be a shame if either get taken. Stepan has some value. I am sure he can bring some picks and a nice prospect back.
Yeah i'm going to be very curious to see what mgmt does and how they react to some of these people being complete playoff duds as well as the DG/Staal situation.
It may not make everyone feel better at this moment but I'll add some perspective or positives in regards to this team. JT Miller is only 23 and is coming off his best season. Rough playoffs but I think he's a solid player that will get better. Zibanejad is only 24 and had to deal with a broken leg screwing up his season. Showed he could perform in the playoffs. Vesey is another 24 year old who I'm looking forward to seeing next year with a season under his belt. I think he's a solid player who had to get used to a full season and it was good he got a taste of the playoffs. Skjei is only going to get better. Another young player who will learn from this.
Stepan and Hayes must be replaced if they want to do anything next year. Holden, Girardi, Staal and Klein must be shown the door on d.
