duncan's stats the last two years may not be great but remember, he's been hurt a lot of the last two years, 2005 he badly sprained his ankle and missed a shitload of games, and we ended up winning it all. on two bad ankles cause he mildly sprained his ankle in the second round against the sonicsand then last year he had the plantar facitis or wtfever it's calledand duncan doesn't give a crap about his stats, all he cares about is the W, if he wanted to, he could be avg. 26 and 15, but he rather let manu and tony shine......... the league would be much better off if there was more players like duncan.......

No way...Here's a list of better players:Kobe BryantShaqKevin Garnett<strike>Shawn Marion</strike><strike>Dirk Nowitzki</strike><strike>Paul Pierce</strike><strike>Tracy McGrady</strike>Steve Nash (top offenses in both Dallas & PHX)</div>Fixed.And that's if your talking about individual playing, factoring in the effect he has on his whole team as well as his leadership definitely puts him in competition for tops in the last 5 years. It's very arguable, though.

Lets get it straight, "best player last 5 years", not most successful. Duncan has been good and consistent and won a couple of championships, but this is about the best player. KG has definately been a better player over the last five years than duncan.

How has Kevin Garnett been better than Duncan? He averages a couple points and rebounds more on far inferior teams that can't escape the first round? The collapse of the Timberwolves in 05 has to reflect on Kevin Garnett's lack of leadership, which is a defining trait of the best player in the NBA. Can anyone imagine Jordan, Bird, Magic, or Russel allowing the crap that went on in Minnesota happen on one of their teams?
People don't realize that over the last few seasons Pop has been cutting back Tim's minutes to help him late in the year, when they really need him. Saying Kevin Garnett has been better than Tim Duncan should be considered a crime, my lord.
I think KG, while a GREAT Player, has been extremely overrated IMO.He just doesn't seem like a winner, nor does it seem like he even wants to win sometimes.I'd put both TD and Dirk in a class above KG as better PF's, much less better overall players.

I think KG is the best power forward of the 3 at the moment, but Duncan is right there, has been better all time and yes I think he has been the best player of the last 5 years.

KG has one WCF appearance, and had 1 really good team...Dirk not only has made the Finals but had the Mavs as title contenders for the last 8 years, and mostly with a different cast of players from the start of that run till now...I'll say Sam I am, Spree, and Wally had just as much to do with the TWolves making that 1 WCF's as KG had.KG is a top 3 PF and top 10 player, but people talking about him like he's a top 3 player in the NBA, much less the best player in the game is laughable...but Dirk's passed him now, and TD is still ahead, at least for another year so.As for the examples, you just have to watch the guy and the way he conducts himself. Any other player would have demanded the Wolves make moves, or move him to a better team. He just seems like he doesn't care, and he's resigned himself to being a loser...it's sad, because I love KG, and think he, along with Dirk, Nash and Brand, deserve to win titles at some point.
I just see KG as the better overall. Where was Dirk's leadership in the Finals last year? He went back to being the old un-aggressive Dirk. KG has had only 1 team that had close to the talent some of Dirk's teams have and that team went the the WCF. I'd say that Howard and Terry are pretty close to the 2nd and 3rd options on the team KG had, probably better. And Nash and Finley too...Also, I'm pretty sure he did try and get Minny to get some talent around him, but their FO sucks.I think Dirk is a great player even though I have KG ahead of him. Right now those 3 would be my 3a. b. and c. players in the league right now. You can make a great argument for each. I just think KG is the best right now.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (KobeBryant_24 @ Mar 4 2007, 03:21 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>KG was and IS better then Tim Duncan.</div>Without any reasoning it's pointless really. May wanna try and use some facts/stats at least.

He doesn't know when he should shoot or when he should pass. The guys that win the titles, and are the leaders, know when to do those things. They know when to get in someone's face, when to back off, when to take over a game, and when to let the other guys help...Dirk almost did that last year, but he's still got some time and needs to learn that this year. I think it's too late for Garnett.I don't think Garnett will ever win a title as a team's "go to" guy. Maybe if he joined the Lakers, and Kobe was the finisher...I just don't see KG as that guy, where I see TD that way, and I think Dirk has become that guy.
