I wonder what Philadelphia will do at #3.

The 3 guys rumored to be worth that pick are Fox, Tatum, and Jackson. They don't need a SF, and they need shooting, so Fox isn't the idea PG.

Do they
1.) Draft Fox, or draft Tatum/Jackson and play Simmons at PG
2.) Reach for Smith or Monk
3.) Trade down into the mid lottery
Or
4.) Trade up to #1

I think all these are possible. Right now I think they'll trade down to 6 (ORL) and take Smith or Monk. Orlando would probably take Tatum 3rd.

 

What would it take to trade up to #5 (SAC)? Harkless, 15, 26, and a future 1st?

Because I want to do that, then trade 5 and 20 up to 3 to take Tatum or Jackson.

 

Or Option 5.) Trade it for Jimmy Butler

 

Draft express has Diallo going #35 in the second round.

nbadraft.net has him going 20 to us now. Seems like a strange jump all of a sudden.

Well they did get all the way to 3rd but had to swap with 76ers which is bit unfortunate. Still, they could get Tatum at no. 5 with a bit of luck.

 

I think Olshey likes Collins. I believe Collins fits Stotts system too. I believe he also fits the system he be upgrade backing up Nurk plus he properly can play some 4. He has nice stroke and plus his shot is soft from distant. Some of the NCAA playoffs this year his shot would just lay on the back rim and then it would roll in that a real soft shot. His foot work on low post is pretty good at young age. He also good rim protector but really his negative is foul trouble. But I am looking playing about 18 minutes a game. Plus he is insurance if Nurk goes down. To me if we can trade up it no brainier to me but I am not the GM.

 

Yeah the 9'3" standing reach doesn't hurt.

 

Your right about that that reach had him block shots with out really jumping and just keep balls alive on the offense boards.

 

After landing #5, Sacramento could make #10 available. Depends on who they get with #5 but I see potential scenarios:

a) they draft Jayson Tatum so still have need for a playmaker and wait for no. 10 where they get whichever of Dennis Smith, Frank Ntilikina and De'Aaron Fox is available. If they get Tatum at no. 5, they keep the pick and get a point guard IMO

b) they draft a point guard (Fox?) and know that they could either get Markkanen or Isaac at no. 10 but prefer to actually have two players instead of one so are willing to trade that for our no. 15 and no. 20 so they can get Anonuby/Jackson/Ferguson to play no. 3 and Collins/Hartenstein/Leaf for 4.

 

Honestly, I'd offer Harkless, 20, 26, and the future MIN/LAL 2nd for 10 & 34.

Keep 10 & 15, take Collins and Jackson.

 

Maybe they would take that. Fat chance though, Harkless himself is maybe worth no. 25 in this draft. You need to include 15 for them to consider, that's where good players will be available.

Maybe 20, 26 and 2018 1st.

 

Watched some FIBA U18 tape to get a look at Diallo in a competitive setting and color me impressed. From a physical tools standpoint, he blows Terrance Ferguson out of the water. Works his ass off defensively too.

Still super raw offensively though. Mainly an energy guy but I love his aggressiveness (draws a ton of fouls), agility and frame which he should be able to add a lot of weight to.

I would be very ok with him at #15 and to be honest, if Neil thinks Zach can't play the 4, I'd be tempted to roll the dice with Diallo over him even if he fell to us. Wings with his combination of tools don't come around very often.

But if we'd tanked those last couple of weeks, it would have been between 13 and 20. What a huge lost opportunity.

 

If Kings offer both their picks for McCollum, do you consider it? I don't think they will, pretty sure there is literally zero chance of that happening but in theory, if they do?

What if Magic offer #6 and #24 plus a player?

Or if Timberwolves offer us #7 plus future 1st round pick?

Or if we can get Porzingis plus #8 from the Knicks for CJ and #15?

I am just wondering here. It would be a full blown rebuild from there but maybe it would make a little sense if we think we cannot build around CJ.

Or straight up #3 and one of Phila's second rounders for CJ?

 

The tough part about trading CJ is that he is a proven scoring commodity. The reasons why you look at it is because he is now a $23M player who doesn't pass and doesn't really play defense when you already have a similar size player doing the same thing making $25M. It's a little like if you had a Kyle Korver....you don't need an Allan Crabbe. They both are basically the same player doing one thing well.

If there are opportunities to create more balance with more of a two-way player, I have to look at that. It's not like Dame/CJ were producing anything at contender level.

 

That's also my thinking. You may say that adding another piece to this team could make us a contender, but could it? I still stand by what I said, there is no quick fix to make this team contend in the short term. People who want to trade all our picks for the level of Thad Young or Trevor Booker are just deluding themselves into thinking that it would miraculously solve all our problems when reality is that it would add 3-5 wins and still make us too weak to compete against the big guns.
