But if the team taking him has cap space, they can still take him though, right? Which Philadelphia and I believe also Minnesota have.

Hamidou Diallo? The SG. Did I read your thread wrong? Draft Express has him in the second round at 35th. Do you think he is going to climb that high?

He is impressive though. 6'5 with a 6'11 wingspan!

Some Mocks have him going much higher. I think that is what the poster was trying to illustrate. NBADraft.net (which was very reliable for quite a while) has him going at #20.

    NBADraft.net has him at 20.

I missed him some how. Definitely someone to watch.

Not enough to accept him in so vastly lopsided a deal. The difference between his incoming/outgoing values is nearly $17M. Sixers only have $9M in cap space left, so there's not a way to make that work. Wolves have over $12M, so it's more feasible, but other players would have to be involved as well, and the amount we take back has to fit into the cap rules as well.

I'm one of the first ones on the board that pointed out Zach Collins, now everyone is on the bandwagon.

I'm having this bad feeling (looking at Draftexpress) that there are gonna be a couple guys at 13 and 14 that we would really have liked.

Like how Drummond went several picks before Meyers.

And you think that if Olshey has his eyes on a player at around that position he can't work a two for one trade of picks?

If there's someone they really want, I'd rather them trade up than lose them a couple picks ahead. I'm sure trading up a couple spots wouldn't be difficult. I like the depth of this draft more than the talent at the top so I'd rather sit still.

What if Collins was available at #11 (Charlotte)? Crabbe, Davis, Napier plus #15 for Plumlee, Bellini and Sessions and #11? Actually, that almost seems like we would be taking on too much crap to only trade up 4 spots. Maybe our 20th instead?

Well according to draft express there will be numerous "long" centers to choose from to back up Nurk.
What is the consensus? Why is Justin Patton so low? Being so young i would think he would go higher.
I see Ed Davis backing up Nurk next year, and one of these guys the following year.

    Allen #17
    Patton #19
    Hartenstein #22
    Jeanne#24
    Pacecniks 27
    Giles #28
    Bam #32
    Lessort #34
    Thomas Bryant #36

You missed Anigbogu, currently projected at 15. I'm on record wanting Allen and Bryant (based on his skillset, I see him more as a PF than a C).

I think Patton's low because he's seen as a late bloomer. Like, nobody knew about him until he started playing, whereas most of the guys ahead of him have been scouted for a few years. Suggests to me that perhaps there's even more room for growth, but who knows?

I think Ed will do just fine backing up Nurk. I'm a huge fan of Davis. He'd do better than a rookie right?

    Hello darkness, my old friend
I like Ed Davis too. He had a down season, but if he rebounds to previous career norms, he's a very good defender, rebounder and a solid pick-and-roll finisher.

If he can give us a solid 20 mins a night, we'll be good to go.

Debatable. The current DE mock doesn't have a single true big selected before the Blazers pick (Maarkanen and Collins don't really play strong down low). If the Blazers take Anigbogu or Jarrett at 15, they're taking (in their mind) the best post player in the draft. Why assume that there isn't a single low post big in the draft that can't outplay a career backup from day 1?

I'm not one to go back and compare stats, just my opinion that a solid vet is going to bring more than a rook picked mid first round. Seen too many young guys with "potential" come thru and not pan out. I'll take my chances on a player like Ed.

I think Zach Collins from Zags is a post player. Yes, he can also shoot a mid-range shot, but very limited range IMO.

After him, Anigbogu or Allen are the next real bigs.
Why is no one high on John Collins? Seems like a perfect blend of PF/Stretch4 we've been seeking. Scores and boards! Seems like a nice fit next to Nurk.
