I better post over here for Fez' sake; keep this one from falling off the earth.
Maybe it is just this Ringer site; but I get the impression almost anyone in the top 60 has a chance of making a NBA roster. I'm reading descriptive words that were lacking in previous years 2nd round profiles; stuff like motor, energy, intangibles, explosiveness, heart, faster twitch, good BBIQ, 3 and D athlete.
I really like the idea others have been promoting. Trade picks for impact players or up in the draft and then somehow acquire a couple second rounders.

BTW, I'm really liking the Ringer format, a lot of info in an easily accessed place; even has per 40 stats right under the normal stats. Plus a shot chart for each player. (and No, I don't work for them or have any relatives working there!) http://nbadraft.theringer.com/

Is it possible without trading any of our big 3 to get Sac's #5 and 10? Maybe 34 too?

    Harkless/Aminu
    Crabbe
    Myle/Davis
Plus 15-20-26 and next year's unprotected first???

We absorb Rudy Gay? And/or? (Most likely out for most of the season.)

Does it help them? Rudy and his contract is going to hurt them and they really could use some immediate help at SF.

We take Isaac and Z Collins.
Or should I stop drinking so early in the day?

So if you take the average of Hark/Chief, that is around $8.5M. Add in $17M for Crabbe and an averaged $8.5 for Myle/Davis. That's $31-35Million going out and only $13M for Gay coming back. Portland would have to take on a lot more salary.

Sacramento could add 2 31 year olds in Tolliver and Affalo, but I don't think Gay can be traded. By declining his option,he is a UFA this summer.
Adding 28 year old Koufos in his place and subtracting either Davis or Aminu from our side would do it. So, then Sacramento would be getting an overpaid Crabbe (and they already have Hield) and Harkless and Aminu in exchange for making a very lopsided draft pick switch. I don't think they would do it.

I believe Olshey also like this kid and I believe he will try to move and get him if possible.

O.G.? Zach Randolph isn't in this draft.

I must confess that I didn't see Indiana play this year, but just to clarify is it "Awg" or "Oh-Jee"? Seems like it is short for his name, which is Ogugua, but truly it is fully capitalized. If O-G then that is an unfortunate choice.

With our defense, he would never miss a shot in practice!

My fear is that he goes top 8 or so.

15 is a pipe dream. IMO.

As a prospect Zach Collins only has one drawback - his hands are small.

8.75"/9.25" puts him in guard territory.

His hands are identical size to Nigel Williams-Goss, a 6'1.5" guard.

This is where I disagree. There are a lot of stupid teams out there. Look at Orlando last year with Ibaka.

One of those teams will probably put together a better package than Portland. They shouldn't, but they will. And it'll end up being a rental. Then we'll be here a year from now bumping this thread.

I think finishing vs NBA size/length/athleticism, foul + TO rate, frame (if he only can play 5) and sample size could be added to that list. It's why I think he has a shot to fall to us, plus not many teams needing bigs.

But if he develops legit NBA range, can beat switches in the post, guard space/pnr + late-clock switch and translate 60-70% of his rim protection ability, he'll be a plus player on both ends.

To get a guy like that outside of the top 10 would be a steal.

Yeah but when you look at teams that are above us in the draft - and those could be the teams offering those better deals, as Indiana will mostly be interesting in draft picks unless they can get someone like Porzingis or Booker, very few of them have any reason to go after Paul George. I think a team that could put out a competitive package are Phoenix (no. 4 plus one of Chriss and Bender) but that's about it. Unless New York fancy parting with both their pick and Porzingis, Lakers rush into decision and offer their pick plus Randle or Ingram, or Boston have a change of mind and offer Fultz, all of which are highly doubtful, Pacers will be looking at either three mid and late picks from us or not much else.

I don't see Zach Collins falling to 15 BTW. If we really want him, we need to arrange a deal with Sacramento to take their #10 for some of our assets. I think #15 and #20 will be enough but maybe they will even take #15 and #26. I doubt they will care much about our players.

George aside, I still think Olshey will try to trade all the way up into the top 8.

That's hopefully Plan A and B. Those are the only 2 plans that have a at least a decent chance at landing an all-star player.
