    As a libertarian:

    1) I am thrilled Clinton lost.
    2) Trump is the elected president.
    3) The way to get rid of Trump is at the voting booth in 2020. That's what the constitution says.
    4) Those who oppose him with such venom and hate did not learn their lesson from Clinton's loss.

Re #3... If we allow the media to destroy presidents they don't like, we don't have much of a freely elected government (we don't anyway, witness the career government employees who see it fit to be unnamed sources).

    You missed the whole point.

    So I'll repeat the question.

How did we negotiate this (awful) nuclear deal with Iran, if not for "secret backchannels?"

The followup is the obvious. It's how things work, nothing to see here so move along to something legit.

Strange things? I see reporters on TV call him names. I see the tweets being posted here, and the general tone of what is written.

    Just wow... to deny this.

Those who didn't vote for her consider it a win.....I didn't vote for her so she didn't teach me anything of importance...I did learn that my candidate was unprepared for the campaign and sort of mailed in his campaign.....not impressed

You're asking a question that neither you nor I have the information to answer......I don't think Obama or his staff lobbied Iranian diplomats or offered backdoor access while running for office ....I do think Kushner did......this is the issue.

It's not just Clinton. The whole party is hawking their agenda and the people aren't buying it. All over the place. Authoritarianism is being defeated by Liberalism/Libertarianism. It's great!

    https://fivethirtyeight.com/feature...e-white-house-but-democrats-lost-the-country/

So why did the Democrats lose the 2016 presidential election? Why, even as Obama spoke, was there a newly expanded Republican majority in Washington working overtime to gut his hallmark healthcare law? In his eight years in office, Obama oversaw the rapid erosion of the Democratic Party’s political power in state legislatures, congressional districts and governor’s mansions. At the beginning of Obama’s term, Democrats controlled 59 percent of state legislatures, while now they control only 31 percent, the lowest percentage for the party since the turn of the 20th century. They held 29 governor’s offices and now have only 16, the party’s lowest number since 1920.

We do know that we don't have an embassy in Iran, Iran has no embassy here. Geez.

Yes, he does. That's misdirection on your part.

If he's slime for it, so are those who respond in kind.

I agree with this....but I'd say...both parties....long before this election I said I'm sick of divorce court govt....stalemate govt....I've learned you can't tell people you're a free agent with political choices yet argue against' Trump and you get put on the other team.....I don't want to be on either team. My own sensibilities say we have a horrible administration right now. A lot of people feel the same.

duh.....but what the hell does that have to do with communications between the countries? That doesn't give us any red flags as to improper use of diplomacy

Join the club. I wish for the demise of the republican party as much as I do the democrats, though I see the democrats as significantly more dangerous to our Liberty at this point.

    Not conservative spin:

Right. There were no red flags. There are none now, either.

This story is yellow journalism at its finest.

If you want to make peace with your enemies, you have to talk to them.

I don't see how it's to our advantage to somehow be at war with Russia, and I do see the possibility of having "trust but verify" kind of good relationship with them.

We do have to talk to them without leakers and the media painting the situation into one that's sinister. Not just with Russia, clearly.

I don't see how it's to our advantage to be at war with Iran or N Korea either....Trump said China was evil..now he says they're great friends....before elected he warmed to Russia and threatened China.....the guy doesn't have a diplomatic bone in his tiny hands. Putin is NOT a good guy or to be trusted...this is demonstrable.....I agree with Hillary about him and agree with the Russian media about him....he's not very popular in Russia you know...Iran had the first moderate leader in decades and was making progress....now Trump has stirred them back into hating the Great Satan again....and you think this is draining a swamp? They no longer give a shit about sanctions or limits on their own weapons programs.....throwing away decades of negotiation for some bluster and sabre rattling

One thing I do see happening.....huge arms race at the expense of domestic investments ......gut social services to the poorest Americans to give the wealthy tax breaks.

N Korea is threatening to nuke the US, Russia isn't. Iran has always hated the great Satan... well at least since Carter.

We "invest" $3.5T of the $4.1T budgets already. Trump is calling for $1T in new infrastructure spending.
