Tundras look cool. I have an asian stepbro and stepmom that are obsessed with toyota too. They shit all over subaru so we have had a couple pissing matches.
I like the gmcs too. I've just known too many people with gmcs that have died before 100k. And they are expensive.

I like the ram. Good value too. Just scared of chrysler because they suck dong.

I had a Nissan Frontier, second best vehicle I have ever owned in 60+ years of driving. It did everything I asked of it, including pulling a small travel trailer over very rough dirt roads in Baja Mexico, in first gear low range 4X4 for many miles. Which was amazing for a 4 cylinder engine.

Best truck I ever owned is the Chevy 2500HD with diesel. But it is a difference class of truck. Worst truck was the Dodge.

I was just going to suggest the Ridgeline since they always seem to be the cheapest, lol.

It mystifies me why you see so many Dodge trucks on the road these days. Playing a game with two grandsons last year, driving to Eugene, counting our trucks. I had Chevy, the boys had Ford and Dodge. Dammed if we didn't see more Dodges that both of the others and all of them relatively new.

Supposedly ford is releasing the ford ranger again. But its gonna be comparable to the tacoma and frontier in size.

Agreed, I don't get it either. I do like their Cummins diesel engine. But the rest of the truck is junk. Mine would blow the tranny every 20k miles. Plus the wiring was a mess. Lots of parts all over broke faster than I could fix it.

Every time I think about looking at Dodge trucks again, I just start banging my head against the wall until I wake up.

Any accountant who wants a 4 door truck would buy a Tacoma. A new one as a used one almost costs the same. Search Craigslist for a 3 year old Tacoma and you'll be amazed at how much they go for.

I fixed a 7 year old one a few months ago that purred like a brand new car but had 170,000 miles. If not for the wear and tear visible on the seats you'd have never been able to guess the mileage.

Half a million mile engine in an under 100,000 mile chassis.

We had a new Ford aluminum truck at work last year that had a rear tire blow on the freeway. Holy shit it looked like a grenade went off, the aluminum bed was shredded outwards and it needed a cab corner replaced and had damage to the door.

It was incredible, you couldn't just put a tire on it and drive it, the bed sides could kill someone riding a bike when it passed.

It got a new bed and was super expensive to fix. I wouldn't recommend one of those trucks past the point of having full coverage to cover it. That tire explodes when the truck is old and it would be a total loss.

One more reason to buy, will last forever. I'm not a Toyota guy by any stretch but that truck is bulletproof.

Sooooo, no to ford or dodge. Yes to nissan over the others? You're the mechanic so you see which ones need work most.

My stepbrother is a mechanic and he hates chrysler. Says they are all garbage.

They make a Nissan Titan with a 5.0 cummins diesel. I bet those are dope. Smaller diesels get awesome mileage, and diesels in general outlast gasoline engines.

I don't know you or your wife so take this with the appropriate number of tons of salt...

I'm not sure 4 doors is really going to work out that well for you. Hauling kids and wife around in the 4x4 pickup isn't going to be a long-term solution, you'll be driving a minivan before you know it. If you can afford to have the truck and the minivan, then you don't need 4 doors in the truck. If you can't afford both, you might as well just buy the minivan and give up your manhood now.
